does work well

I got this for my kayak so I could record video with my phone. It does not work well. Lots of problems like my phone fell out. I can't get it to in the position I put it in. Just very frustrating.

It's the Perception game. You have to buy their accessories at inflated prices because nothing else fits. The ball is held on with a nut and bolt. So technically you could remove the ball and use the insert for something else. The fitting screws into the molded solo accessory mount found on newer Perception Kayaks like the Outlaw and Pro. It is a good idea in theory however the ball doesn't stay very tight and will back out. I almost lost my fish finder for this reason. You might be able to wrap some teflon tape around the threads to get a tighter fit... I thought it was a must have item as it is basically a good idea. Better on the Pro than the Outlaw. They are to far away from the seat on the Outlaw to be useful IMO. $25 is an extremely steep price. I would have bought 3 at $10 each.

Excellent, albeit overpriced.

Works perfectly in the Solo Mount slots on my Sound 9.5 kayak. Installed so that I can have my phone propped up for GPS use with the RAM X-Grip. Review docked to four stars because the price is way too high for what it is. This should really be much closer to $10 or $15...

Nice to have for tie off or anchoring

I got the large 1.5 inch model in case I wanted to use heavy accessories or tie off/anchor in strong winds or currents. Useful only for kayaks with RAM screw in adapter holes, as the Perception Outlaw 11.5 and Dick’s Sporting Goods Hook Angler 10.5 made by Perception exclusively for DSG.
