Good product but not perfect

Really do like the product, was very easy to set up and sync to iPhones. The device is light and easy to take on and off of the bat and has proven reliable so far through a lot of use. The app allows the user to focus on a single metric or use their blast factor (which uses a percentage of specific metrics to create one metric) to work on an optimal swing. It also can record a video of the swing which when matched up to a swing and metrics provides visual feedback. Finally, the measurements do seem accurate, based on visual observation and ball reaction when used at the diamond with soft-toss. For the most part, my 12yo travel ball player uses it in between practice and lessons to keep sharp and avoid developing bad habits on the tee or soft toss. A few items I don't like: There is no way to separate metrics by user. You can update bats which in theory could help you identify a separate user, however, at the time of writing this review, without purchasing the upgraded app you can't sort metrics based on bat. Also, while there are optimal ranges and explanations for each metric, there is little information on how to improve the each metric. Additionally, only some metrics are available with the free app, to get them all, once again you have to purchase the upgraded app. Overall I'd recommend for the serious fastpitch player and am happy with the product.

Works great

We have these for both of our kids. One baseball and one softball. This works great fir our 12u softball player. Swing metrics are recorded and we can go back through and break everything down, see what’s happening and plan an action to fix.

I had so much hope

My daughter plays a high level of travel softball. We had seen so many people using blast to help with their hitting and we jumped all in. Easy to charge and put on the bat. Easy to connect the app to the bat but the app itself is absolutely not user friendly. It’s not plug and play. It doesn’t always download the swings and track everything. App was confusing for video uploading and recording. We decided to just not use it. Spent more time messing with the app then actually hitting the ball.

awesome for stat heads who want to know more about their swing

I purchased this product over a month ago and have been impressed with it. I have the free version of the app but it still has a lot of data points that help and my teammates improve our swings. Tracking Bat Speed, Hand Speed, multiple bat Angles, plus Power and Time to Contact has led to a more focused and data-based approach to my hitting and has increased my performance. Setup and swing uploads are easy to do. The app is user friendly and even has most major brand bats already in the app to select from. If there was one improvement I would make to the app, it would be the ability to add notes to a swing when using with multiple people. Giving a name to each swing and possibly a result of the swing when during gameplay would allow for easier identification during game play. As a training tool though for a single persons swing, this a game-changing product.

Just too much work

I downloaded the app and subscribed to the paying service, but I never could get both my daughters accounts on the same account. I had to create 2 different logins and sign in and out everytime they swung their bats. And sometimes the sensor would not stay connected and I had to keep tinkering with it. Too much of a hassle so I returned it .

I wish I could afford 12 more of these for my team.

Only had it for a couple weeks but I love it and so does my daughter. It has caused her to want to go to the cage and hit more often just so she can compare sessions. The stats are great and the immediate feedback awesome. If there is such a thing as being able to purchase motivation, this is the tool. And we're already seeing the difference in her swing because now she can see her swing and break it down to various components.

Overcomplicates the swing process

I was very excited about getting this for my daughter who is deeply involved in travel softball. If you aren't aware, to use all features of this, there is a paid membership with Blast Motion. I was ok with that since I had researched and expected it. Once we started using this we realized how much this just seems to overly complicate her entire swing process. While I feel like it's a nifty tool to see some of your stats, I feel that (at least in our situation) money and time is much better spent with a quality swing instructor.

Must have for all competitive batters

I can't tell you how great it is to have this app show your kid how to improve her swing instead of her parents. My daughter for a long while started acting like I didn't know anything and was just trying to push her to try harder, but now I don't need to say a word. Her hitting coach gave her a speed goal and she can now just look at her phone to know where her progress lies.

Good Product

Once you get familiar with the app and the Blast metrics (Rotations, Connection and Plane), it really helps improve one's swing. Worth every penny and I highly recommend it!

No user guide included

Great item however for the price they really should include a quick user guide. That was disappointing
