Excellent for hand eye coordination

Purchased to help with baseball practice. This along with ping pong size wiffle balls have helped provide training for the players. Not only does it give them more time to find their swing zone, it allows for many opportunities to hip the ball. Also, since it is a smaller ball with and smaller surface area it forces them to concentrate on hand-eye coordination.

Disappointed

I ordered three of these for my grandsons for Easter, I can only give a 1 star rating because upon delivery I only received the bats with no balls. Now I have to scramble to try to find 5.5" mini balls so these metal sticks can actually be used as bats. UPDATE: The manufacturer was very quick to respond back and is making this right, so I'll change the rating solely based on their customer service at this time.

I have a 7 and 11 year-old and they have so much fun with this bat. The 11 year-old has been practicing with this and I can see a better hitting average for sure. Plus--- they will spend more time on this then their electronics which is always a win for any parent. Side note you will be out there longer too pitching so less house work to do :)

Good for honing reflexes in a young little leaguer

I did buy a couple of sets of the SKLZ mini impact balls to accompany this bat (which WERE $9.99 for 12 and are now $19.99 for 12 son Amazon!), but I found the cost of the SKLZ bat to be prohibitive. This bat is the same dimensions and weight as the SKLZ bat. My husband and I toss the mini balls to our grandson and although he is naturally athletic, it has been fun to watch him become very accurate at hitting those little targets with this thin bat. Years ago when my husband took our son to a batting coach, he used a similar setup and would toss 2 balls simultaneously and call out "upper" or "lower" and my son would need to hit the ball that was called out. It's just another way to hone their reflexes. BTW if you're looking for other training tools, we also bought our grandson the SKLZ Hurricane Category 4 Batting Swing Trainer for Baseball and he has been hitting away in his basement all winter. Now being out at the park watching him hit, it is obvious his accuracy and swing have greatly improved. SKLZ also makes excellent practice soccer equipment for your budding soccer player...
