Very basic downlights

If you have a home that has had recessed lighting installed in the past few decades, that means you probably have a can inserted into your ceiling with a 6 inch to 10 inch space where a socket exists at the top in the center. For years people just simply installed a fun light bulb into this type of fixture and many people just accepted that air from the room was just vented upward through these cans. In northern regions, during the winter heated rooms had their heated air sent to the crawlspace or attic through recessed lighting. Stepping forward, many folks now want to replace these old energy consuming bulbs with energy sipping LED bulbs. For some time LED flood light bulbs were available to purchase, but a new innovation has come to market which is this one which is a flat surface panel with springs on the inside to hold it in place and a wire long enough to reach the socket which has a standard bulb twist screw connector at the end of the wire to connect to the standing socket inside. This allows you to have a flush sealed ceiling with an LED spotlight connected to it with minimal fuss and installation as long as you can reach everything easily do not hide takes under 3 minutes a fixture, and once you do a few you can probably do them in less than a minute each. Unlike some other brands these are not baffles and the filter does show hence of a bright single large Eli D cluster in the center. I don't love the color rendering of these so much for a living room type of space, but if you're looking to retrofit a bunch of them in a playroom or basement, I recommend this set wholeheartedly.

Great, easy to install

Finally! Went through a few before I found this set. Used this to replace the bulbs and trim on a regular set of high hats. Install less than 5 minutes. The clamps on these are great and tough; they do their job. They are bright, but there's a dimmer switch in my bath, so it depends on my mood and the vibes I'm going for in the bathroom. I adjust the brightness accordingly. Great bang for the buck for an upgraded, flush look on the ceiling. Oh yea!

They break

We replaced all of the canned lights in our home with these in 2021. Not three months later, one fell out of the ceiling. Our contractor came and talked about the poor design of the lights, explaining that the plastic bracket just snaps. Apparently they have had lots of issues with the lights. They replaced that one but it happened twice again. We ordered replacements from Amazon and replaced them ourselves. Well, this morning a fourth light dropped. I would recommend for anyone to find another brand of light unless you want to keep climbing ladders to replace them.

A bit different than the old ones

I got this to replace a dying 7 or 8-year-old sylvania led can light with the exact same specs, and this one looks a bit different whiter plastics, cooler light temperature, brighter, turns on quicker, etc. It's also a bit smaller in back. I'd say possibly these newer ones are better than the old ones (or maybe the old ones have just degraded with time), but it's a bit frustrating that I can't get a replacement that matches the 11 others I have installed in my house only 7 years after installation.

It works for now

It did fit my 6-inch cans /old-style pot lights/ Much improved/fully closed now/ no access to bugs and flies now to the fixture. The only complaint I would have is to improve the spring attachment/ make it stronger. It looks like a weak plastic connection for the spring wires holding the whole light fixture in place! Also the seal ring should be thicker.. too thin to bridge the irregular surface of the house soffit!!!!

Amazon photo shows 2 units, but description says 4 units. Only 2 are shipped.

Purchased this unit to convert a 35 year old 6 inch pot light into a LED light in our Powder Room. Product was delivered as scheduled. When installed, the color temperature was too yellow. The units were returned. The fixtures were well constructed, and I would recommend them if yellow tone (similiar to standard incandescent bulb). Well priced. NOTE: The description on Amazon shows picture of 2 units, but description says 4. There are only 2 units delivered. This has been adressed by other buyers, but the web site has not been changed.
