I am an adult woman and I buy leotards to work out in. I know that sounds odd, but ballerinas and dancers in general sweat, a lot, and leotards are great to wear when working out. I usually get a size smaller so it basically acts as a compression garment. I have a smaller chest and really don't need a high compression sports bra. I chose this leotard fo several reasons; It's not made of cotton so it wicks sweat like a champ, it doesn't have a shelf bra which I hate, and some colors come lined in the front. I always use the leotard sizing guides from the manufacturers websites. (You really should, btw.) But you've gotta be honest about your measurements and actually, well, you know, follow the instructions.... Overall, this leotard isn't awful. (Except the smell when I got it. It smelled of perfume. I wish you women would stop trying on garments with a full face of makeup and enough perfume to start your own factory. Also stop trying stuff on with deodorant on ffs. Amazon just puts this stuff back in the inventory even though they aren't supposed to, so someone is gonna buy your awful perfume scent and body funk combo. I digress...) So anyway, I washed it first, like three times because the scent was just putrid and then tried it on. It's still kind of big. I originally had ordered the XL based on other reviews, but it was way too big, but didn't smell awful btw. (That's how I know Amazon is just putting this stuff back in the inventory after your try it on.) That leotard was also too long in the torso. And since the leg line is ballet, it's kind of like a Speedo swimsuit. They used to sell this in the jazz leg line and that leotard was fantastic. I have over a dozen of those in a variety of colors. The jazz leg line gives a more flattering and better fit in my opinion. It doesn't sit awkwardly on your hip area like ballet leg lines. Now, I know I AM losing weight, but in no way am I a size medium in this brand with a butt my size. And yet, I'll probably only be able to wear this leotard for a couple of weeks after I lose more weight. It just doesn't have the compression feel I am used to with leotards. I'm gonna find some others on clearance at a dance shop nearby and try them on to see what's what. I may have to try to shrink this in hot water once it gets too big if I can. My suggestion with just this particular leotard is to use the size guide and then buy a size down and just return one of the items. That's what I usually do, but didn't this time. It's cheaper here at Amazon than the brand's website, so you're getting a great deal. That's one of the only reasons I kept it. I didn't have a problem with sheerness like the others indicated. Maybe because I purchased the black, but I've purchased other lined products in this brand and never had that problem. The white is lined, so you should be okay there. If you need to wear a bra with this leotard, you'll also be set. It covers you up well and the bra won't show. Overall it's a decent leotard, I just wish they'd tighten up the sizing guidelines and tbh, use the metric system which gives you a better fit. I'd submit a photo, but I look like Quasimodo, so y'all are just gonna have to trust me on this one....
