It’s the Hazy Kind

My first impression was not good, when I felt the Lava Lamp sliding and bouncing around in its shipment box. The worst packaging I’ve ever seen. But nothing was broken and it seemed intact. (See photo.) But I immediately noticed the lamp was very cloudy. I thought maybe all the bouncing around made it hazy. There are some instructions on what to do in that case, and I followed them. My mistake was, I didn’t look at the photos well enough when I purchased the lamp. The glass is frosted on the outside with different colors. I assumed it would be like my last rainbow Lava Lamp, in which the fluid was very clear. (See photos) But in the end, it wasn’t worth the time or money to return the lamp. It would cost me five bucks if I brought it to any other return location besides Whole Foods, which is not nearby. My refund would’ve been fifteen bucks, so I kept it. It works fine. It just has that old school cloudy liquid style, and it should be noted the glass is frosted. I may get another one someday.

Very nice

This is my second time ordering this. I got the first one from the warehouse, and when I got it, it had no extra padding to keep it protected and to no surprise I open the package and the glass bottle was shattered. I was able to return and I chances it again, but bought it completely new and it was secure with bubble wrapping so it wouldn't move too much while shipping. The lamp itself is beautiful and I have no complaints, other than the light bulb it comes with burns out within a few hours and you need to replace it with a better light bulb. Overall, I like this and it's a great price and I recommend buying it brand new.

Great color scheme!

UPDATE MARCH 2023: lava is no longer flowing. The box was a little rough so I was afraid the lamp would be damaged but it wasn’t. The colors are great! It’s a purple/blue/green painted base and red cap, with the actual lamp being a melting green/yellow/orange/red from bottom to top. Lava/wax is white. I turned it on and let it warm up for a couple hours and the next time I checked on it it was going strong! The ONLY issue is that some of the green coating towards the bottom of the lamp is scratched or scraped off. Not super noticeable but it’s around almost the whole lamp so don’t think I’ll be able to hide it. Don’t wanna go through ordering another one. Besides that, it’s great!

10 year old son loves it!

I got this for my son for his 10th birthday and I wasn’t prepared for how excited he would be! It’s a little cloudy but I followed the instructions and it helped, for the most part. It’s great for the money and he loves it so much!

not that bad, despite mixed reviews on this lava lamp....

so, i used to have a lava lamp almost like this particular one from walmart and had it for several years... i found this one, and despite some very bad reviews, its not that bad so far.... yes, its kind of foggy on the outside with the painted glass which is made alot more different than the previous one i had.... i dont find too much wrong with it yet, but i have only had it for less than two days, so we shall see, but im not disapointed with it..... forgot to mention that even though the outside of the lamp is some sort of painted glass, that i can still see the lava in it pretty clearly....

Needed extra heat to start but is great now.

For the first use, it just wouldn't start. The next day, I used my hair dryer to heat up the coil and melt some of the wax more. It didn't make all of it move, just some. Then I had to do something else, so I let it sit on the light bulb again and soon it started working like normal that same day. Now it works like normal.

Colorful but boring

Not sure if mine is defective or what but it doesn’t move at all. This is how it looks constantly. No matter how long the light is on. This picture was taken after it was on as a nightlight all night. I even got a stronger bulb but no change

Doesn't last

Worked great for first month or so. Then just doesn't flow anymore. All stuck to sides , nothing floating. Wouldn't recommend.

Beautiful Lamp

I was initially concerned about the comments about it being cloudy, and truthfully the water is not clear but it lends a kind of dreamy feel to the lamp. I have had clear ones before and I much prefer this. The stand is much nicer than I expected, it doesn't look tinny or cheap. The picture in the ad gives a good idea of the look but my water is slightly clearer so the wax is easily seen The only problem I am having is that I find myself staring into it rather than working!

90's throwback

My girlfriend loves this lava lamp! It's great quality and the hand paint isn't chipping or scratched. Great lava lamp and reminds me of growing up in the 90's!
