Seem to work, but with just minimal wear, holes in the heels!

So I like the company, and I have their pants and shirts that seem plenty durable, but the pair of grey sport crew socks I bought have been a huge disappointment. Believe the other reviewers when they also raise this issue. Seemed like any other sport crew sock on opening...no apparent manufacturing or material flaws...but I couldn't believe how fast the heels wore holes. I have 10 year old cotton crew socks still going strong, but these Insect Shield socks lasted only a year or so, with only 5 or 6 wearings.

Gardening Gift

Stopped the mosquitoes from devouring my ankles while gardening - so I am happy. Wore them all summer and still in good shape. Two green thumbs up!

Very impressed the socks

These socks are well made and durable. I wear them while in the woods and have yet to get any tics through the bottom of my pant legs. Very impressed with them and highly recommended.

Comfortable and practical - bugs don’t like it!

So far, it does help repel bugs (mosquitoes and chiggers) and they are comfortable, too. Have not yet washed them, so not sure how they hold up after several washes, but hoping they do as well as the other reviewers say.

Goodbye fire ant bites!

I used to get bitten by fire ants every morning while walking my dogs (i'm allergic and these bites can be painful for days). Once i started using these, the bites have stopped. For whatever reason, fire ants avoid these socks completely!

Comfortable and functional socks.

After a bout with anaplasmosis (black legged tick borne disease) I purchased four pairs of these socks to go with my Permethrin treated clothing and Picaridin skin spray routine. The socks are perfect - comfortable, stretchy, well-sized and tall enough to achieve my latest trend setting look - I.e., tucking my pant legs into my socks when working outside.. Insect Shield’s 70 wash claim sounds good to me and, as a Northeastern gardener, I anticipate ordering a fresh supply of these socks each Spring.

Leg part way too tight to get over pants legs.

I got a large pair that are supposed to be for women's sizes 9 1/2 to 12. (I wear 9 women's shoes) so they would be loose enough to be able to tuck my pant legs into them. No such luck. The socks are much too tight, and my legs are skinny! (5'4" and weigh 114). I had to wear them anyway without tucking in my pantlegs, as I somehow got into chiggers and had over 60 bites, which left me paranoid about going outside to my garden or to walk my little dog. So I can't send them back, but not happy at all.

good socks for tick prevention

I like the insect shield products and own jeans, pants, shirts, and socks from them. I can say that since I have started wearing their gear outdoors that I have not had a tick on me. I am a frequent hiker, camper and spend a lot of time outdoors in potential tick areas. Love their products. Their socks aren't quite 5 star as they are thinner than my liking, but I wear them anyway or with another pair... though in warmer weather I wish they were just more like hiking sock thickness. These are already quite expensive though and they are at the highest limit I'm willing to pay.
