Works well enough on the bike
I've never tried Insect Shield before this, but I am pleasantly surprised. I needed this for biking and trail running in the mountains because the small insects in SoCal are relentless this year. Since I've almost fallen off my bike trying to swat dozens from flying in my eyes and face, I thought this was worth it. I wore it tied and hanging below my neck while riding and had zero bugs in my face, even when I stopped to take pictures and have a snack. Mission accomplished! Trust me, they were everywhere else, flying around my ankles and body, but not in my face. It works near the bandana but not for a wide area. This is a good alternative to greasy bug spray, which is no fun while sweating/exercising.

GOODBYE MOSQUITOES!
Was up backpacking and camping in a very remote area where there were tons of mosquitoes, and normally I'd be a human blood buffet to them, but not this time! I wore this around my neck and only ended up with 2 bites. 2 BITES!!! That's incredible. I definitely had some swarming around me, but they never stayed long. I got one for my lab too and she never had any swarming near her face or ears like she usually does. This is totally worth buying and I'll be supplying all my family members with one for their outdoor summer adventures.

Cute practical addition to my bug prevention “arsenal.”
I’m always looking for products that help repel biting insects as I am super sensitive to bites. This bandana seemed to keep them away more than bug spray alone. Have not yet washed it, so we will see how long the repellent lasts. Fingers crossed!

Color is more tan yellow than yellow. That is fine by me.

No tick in my hair
This seem to do the trick for me and my dogs. Ticks get in my hair and on my dogs, even with spraying. Have not have one since I started using, even with a few washings.

Just okay.
This item slows down ticks a whole lot but does not actually kill them. Also, the tick has to walk on it for it to work. Not the most effective tick collar out there but is better than nothing.

An ounce of prevention
We’ve been using these bandanas for years. They’re great for the dogs and the humans. They work great in offering another level of protection against ticks. We keep the older worn out ugly ones in our bathroom. Anytime we pick a live tick off the dog, we rub it on the old bandana before discarding them in the toilet. In my tests it takes less than a minute for the permethrin to cause the ticks to lose use of their legs. Another benefit is visibility. They’re comfortable enough that we leave them on all the time. On the dogs that is, my wife and I remove ours upon coming inside. I’d like to see brighter colors available, like Orange and Lime Green. You can also reuse the older ones by tying them around the bottom of your pant legs while outside. It keeps your pants closed to any upward crawling insects, and also providing a safe chemical deterrent. If they crawl across it, the chances are less that they’ll even get to your mid-section, let alone have ability to hang on.

Misleading description but seems to do what is supposed to do.
I purchased the dark red bandana and it is 50% polyester/50% cotton, not 100% cotton as listed in the description. I washed it once and wore it tied loosely around my neck for several days. The cotton-blend material is okay, not especially comfortable nor uncomfortable. The bandana is treated with Permethrin, an odorless pesticide. It is not supposed to repel insects. What it is supposed to do is incapacitate or kill insects upon contact before they can bite you. Insects really seem to like biting me in the neck and the bandana did reduce the number of bites, so at least for me it worth the money.
