Not bad for the money

A little flimsy, several of the bolts had apparently come loose during shipping. Once I got it all bolted back together it seems it will do ok for my purposes(motorcycle tires)

Solid Tire/Wheel Storage

Great solution to free up some floor space. No problems fitting 255/40/17 on 17x10 wheels. Only gripe that I have is that the hardware does not include washers. They're probably not required, but in order to protect the steel tubes, and to better distribute the clamping force, they really should be. Not a deal breaker, and overall it's a really solid product.

Works Great, Strange Design

I loved this product so much that I bought a second one for the other side of my garage. The design is a little confusing at first but works really well once you figure it out, I didn’t even need the instructions for my second time installing it. My biggest tip is to make sure all of the nuts and bolts for the folding mechanisms are tightened enough. They come very loose to allow for easier packing and install but it is an accident waiting to happen if you don’t tighten them up after install. One negative thing, HOWEVER, strangely enough the bracket for my second set had one shorter than the other 3. I have attached pictures. This caused the arm that holds the tires to extend at an angle and would not allow the arm to sit flush with the wall mount. I have already installed the entire thing but I’m requesting an exchange and I will just remove the correct sized bracket and replace it on my mounted product. Otherwise, this tire rack has a ton of flexibility and options and can even hold my large jeep wheels (unmounted) off of the wall and has held them for over a year strong.

Great Tire Rack for the Money

TL;DR: Great rack for the money with some manipulation and different hardware. Drill 3/16" pilot holes. Do not use an impact to drive the bolts into your studs; you will risk shearing them. Use a ratchet/socket combo. Easy to assemble and install assuming you have the proper tools. To answer one of the biggest questions regarding tires hitting the wall: they do not. But I guess it also depends on your size tires. The wheel/tire combo I personally have on it are the factory 18" wheels from a 2018 Subaru WRX Limited with the OEM summer Dunlop 245/40R18 tires. As seen in one of my photos, there is approximately 1/2" rear wall clearance. As for the included hardware, I did not use their 3" lag bolts. I spent the extra money on 6 3/16"x4" stainless lag bolts with 12 matching washers which were approximately $20 at Lowes. I used 2 washers per bolt; 1 on the head of the bolt and 1 in between the rack and wall. These seem much more durable than the ones that came with the rack. Cheap piece of mind. As for overall quality, I'm sure there are better made racks out there for more money. The main 'gripe' I have with this rack is the inconsistency of the folding arms. When both are fully extended, the front of the rack is not 100% level. However, I can assure that the main supports that bolt to the wall are perfectly plumb and level relative to each other. I used a laser mounted level and a spirit level to confirm. The problem lies within one of the articulated arm bolt holes. The hole, either on the right or left arm, was drilled either a tad too high or too low - depending on which way you look at it. (The right side sags a tad too low or the left sits a bit too high.) To remedy this, I drilled out the right arm hole a bit larger to make room for adjustment and then re-tightened. I do not plan on folding this rack so I'm not concerned about the folding joints being tight. My OCD got the better part of me since I wasn't able to perfectly center the rack in between my garage windows because of stud location. But it worked out for the better since my garage door track would have gotten in the way anyway. Mine is mounted 78" from the floor to the bottom of the main arms to ensure adequate clearance of my big head. There is approximately 8" of clearance from the top of the tires to the ceiling.

Sturdy

I am using it for my 17” wheels/tires. Looks good except for the slight bow where the bottom rods join together. I also attached two eye bolts above it into the studs to run a safety cable through the wheels.

Great job unit- make sure your builder built correctly

It came nicely packaged and mostly assembled for ease of installation, which was deeply appreciated. Rock solid support bars (welded rolled steel nicly prepped for the large bolts)! The lag bolts were robust. The only issue I had was the builder of my garage apparently doesn’t know what 16” on center means. Nothing on this great piece of American engineering, made in USA product. Just took a bit more time/worry to get the lags into the inside portions of the studs… the span was about 49”. If the unit was built or had some instruction that it supports to 50” (for sloppy builders) that would have taken some worry out of the install.

Great space saver

I was concerned that this wouldn't be able to handle 4 SUV tires, as I swap out my tires seasonally. I wanted to store them in my basement off of the floor to save floor space. I shouldn't have been concerned. As long as you install on the studs inside your wall, it will hold even 4 large tires beautifully. I am very satisfied with this purchase.
