Assembly required.

The helmet or hard hat required assembly. It was a bit of a struggle to attach the visor piece and not crush the Debry screen/ face shield. The rest of the kit is great. I was impressed by the ability to adjust the hard hat and hearing protection to fit me rather well. The chaps are easy on and off, fully adjustable, the provided suspenders are a must. Overall great kit. SAFETY FIRST!

Got black not orange chaps!

The description and photo indicated orange chaps, I received black. As this is for home use it's not a big deal but if you need safety orange for work or other reasons don't get this one! Everything else is good.

Still great despite wrong color chaps

Like others have stated the chaps don’t match the picture, but it still is a nice package in my opinion. I don’t really care about the color since I am not a professional arborist. The instructions on the helmet assembly are quite poor and are the main reason I deduct a star. Not too much trouble though if you have a brain. These do seem to me like they would offer a good amount of protection for what they are designed to do.

mostly great

the powerkit came with the helmet/ear protection, apron chaps, gloves, glasses and suspenders. the glasses appear pretty flimsy, as other reviewers noted, and i have no use for the suspenders so both pieces will probably just stay in the box (which is actually decent enough to store the little stuff and the chaps so i don't misplace any of them). the gloves are decent, though i don't see them lasting more than a season or two. they're just kinda standard leather gloves. the apron chaps are great. easy to put on, easy to adjust, and they stay put. i'm a thin guy, but it looks like there's plenty of slack if you happen to have a larger frame. i was also pleased with the thickness of the chaps. it was hard to tell from the pictures just how substantial they were going to be, but they are nice and thick, say, heavy quilt thickness. hopefully i never have to test them out, but if i ever slip with my saw, i think the chaps will go the distance in keeping my legs where they oughta be. i was most impressed with the helmet. some reviewers complained about the assembly, but it really wasn't too hard. i put the screen connectors on backwards at first, but since that obviously didn't work, i just took them back out and put them in right, no biggie. the screen stops all the big stuff, but you'll want some goggles for dust protection, and it lifts up and stays up like it should when you want a better look at something. the ear muffs are comfortable and adjust easily, and like the screen, they swing away and stay where you leave them when you don't want them on. the helmet itself is thick enough to thwart swinging branches, but still light enough for long wear. it has a nice adjustable band to fit your head, but it has nothing for sweat, so you'd have to add that if you want it. i love this helmet. it's already saved my face from injury. i started using it when i weed trim too, it keeps the debris off me nicely.

Easy to wear and the protection is great

These safety precautions came in handy when cutting and trimming trees. Good quality as well.

Peace of mind for me

My husband really likes the hat and the convenience of the ear protectors. Everything fits well. I trust that the protection provided will be adequate and gives me piece of mind after a couple of close calls with potentially serious accidents with a chainsaw.

Don't crank your saw without it

Chainsaws are scary, but, for some of us they are necessary. My son and I cut about 2 cords a year, so we are certainly not pros. My friends who have been cutting a lot of wood for 20 or more years told me at the beginning that everyone should at least wear chaps like the ones in this set no matter how little or much they use the saw. It takes a while to get everything adjusted and so you surely wouldn't want to let someone else borrow your gear. But, this is to be expected, and so it is not really a disadvantage. The helmet is comfortable when the ear muffs are down and the face screen is down. Many times it has deflected what would have been painful head thumps by branches on nearby trees. There are gloves, safety glasses, and ancillary gear that add up to a complete set of items you need. Plus, the price is right. Don't crank your saw without a set of safety gear like this. Besides, my wife and daughter-in-law say we look cute all decked out.

A must-have for chainsaw guys and gals

Bought this after my husband dropped a chainsaw on his leg
