These toys hold up!

What a fun little game, playing going to the outdoor market, learning fruits and veg, color, washing food, thinking of recipes for pretend. Product has held up. Would recommend.

Good teaching tool

We were getting frustrated trying to teach our 2 year old the names of vegetables and fruits. We'd repeat the names dozens of times as we put the real food on her plate (and she refused to eat them). Then we got this toy on the advice of an educator. She now happily names the fruits and veggies as there's no fear mommy or daddy is going to try to make her eat broccoli, spinach, etc. The real payoff came today when she happily devoured a real peach to our absolute astonishment (apparently seeing the tasteless & odorless plastic versions broken down her resistance to "it's different / don't like it"). She hides the fruits around the house under tables and sofas and then pretends to go "shopping" by finding them and putting them back in the little blue basket. It's a silly game, but she's two and likes it. Plus it teaches her counting, exercises short term memory, and trains her to pick up and put away toys.

Like a lot of others said

Like a lot of others said, it is small. But its a play toy for kids and a toy for imagination. I think they get the gist of what things are and are unrealistic enough to know it is a play toy and they keep out of their mouth. Bought this for my son when he was a year and has lasted through him and my daughter who is 18 months. Has lasted the wear and tear and no crushed food. I can see how they can crush these as it is a softer plastic, but it redeems itself as these may frequently get launched across the room.

Seemed like the best of toy shopping baskets

I bought this basket full of fruits & vegies as a gift and had it shipped to the recipient. I don't know anything other than what I read in the description, Q&A and reviews. I bought it to go with the Ben Franklin Talking Toy Cash Register so they'd have some things to "check-out". After researching all the others available, this seemed like the best quality without any cardboard boxes to fall apart right away.

It looks a little more enticing in the picture. I was surprised by how small it was when it arrived (could be my fault for not reading the description well enough). Some of the fruits and veggies are kind of monotone (can't tell what they are) but it's cute, and my 3 year old likes it so I'll give it 4 stars-because after all, he's the judge not me. One other criticism is that there is no weight to these fruits and veggies, they are super light and fall off of things very easily which can frustrate a kid if their always flopping around.

I purchased them anyway and am very happy I did

I was purchasing this basket to be used as a prop for my online lessons. I read reviews stating how "small" the fruits and vegetables were in the basket. I purchased them anyway and am very happy I did! They are small, but not as small as some reviews made them seem. My nephew, who is four, help it in his hand to help me truly get a perspective of it and it is not that small. As with anything else that is a toy that could be a choking risk, you do need to be careful about young kids placing them in their mouths, but this basket was perfect for my lessons.

This play set is good, quality is also good

This play set is good, quality is also good, the only reason I am giving 4 stars is they could have included different veg and fruits instead of repeating ,there are 3 bell peppers (yellow,red,orange) , 2 apples which was not so necessary , I would be more happy if there was beans, mushroom, cauliflower or peas . If you can find any other play set for the same cost then you can avoid this.

Great variety of 'produce'

I bought these to be used as props for my classroom. So many other similar sets are expensive and all the fruits and vegetables look the same or you get 5 of the same one. In this set there is a large variety of fruits and veggies and they actually look like they are supposed to look. It's a cute set and I think my students will enjoy it.

Cheap as chips and my Daughter LOVES it!!

Bought this for my 18 month old Daughter, she absolutely LOVES it!! I really don't understand the poor reviews some have left, I mean this item cost £5! my Daughters weekly Peppa Pig magazine costs the same and within a few days its in the recycle bin! She loves carrying the basket (fruit & veg in or not) and I find this a great toy for her to learn with. From naming the different types of fruit & veg to the colours of each piece. I had a laugh at first as she would attempt to eat them all! (how great are toddlers!). As for the poorer reviews, yes the handle comes off on one side often, I simply clip it back in place, it doesn't detract from my daughters pleasure of this item whatsoever. The fruit & veg colours are pretty realistic of the real thing, some could be more vivid in colour, the strawberry being the worst in my opinion but again it doesn't detract from the toy at all, and finally yes some of the items are quite pliable whilst others are very hard! So??!! For £5 you really, really can't go wrong. It will provide your child with many hours of fun, that they will come back to time & time again. I have included 2 pictures, one to give an idea of the size (some poor reviews relating to this) next to a sky remote (as most people have these!) and one of the fruits & veg to portray their actual colour. My advice?? BUY IT!! I hope you find my review helpful. Thanks.

Great value but extremely flimsy handles that come off easily

Daughter loves this basket & is learning the different types of fruit & veg from it. But the handles she can get off very easily & are flimsy.
