These are high grade quality filter pads for your canister filter on your aquarium. I have used API products in my filters for a long time and have always been pleased with the quality. When used as directed and used together with other API canister filter products such asAPI Super Activated Carbon Pouch Size 6 andAPI Bio-Chem Zorb Filter Media Pouch Size 6 as I have, it will produce crystal clear (literally the clearest water in any aquarium, when used as directed in a proper size canister filter for your size aquarium) tank water, and will increase the health and quality of life for your fish. Aquarium Pharmaceuticals is one of the highest quality aquarium filtration products I can recommend.

I bought this for my HOB filter, I even made a pre-filter sponge out of it. My water is crystal clear.

Better than the aftermarket options

I have used these and cheaper aftermarket alternatives and these are the best of the options. A bit high on price considering the material, but they filter better and hold up better in the filter. Some alternatives you clean once and they start breaking apart, so you are replacing them with every filter change. These can be cleaned out multiple times and hold shape.

I got this to go on top of the eshopps sponge I use in my biocube 14 as another layer of filtration. Being that it is white you really can see how much it filters out, however utilized as a microfiltration I think there are better products out there potentially. I would most likely utilize the following product on Amazon next time. Value Pack -- Bonded Blue & White Poly Filter Pad Floss 600-square-inches

White filters perform well in keeping water clear

Very good micro-filter. These white filters are pitched then replaced at each cleaning. I do not rinse and reuse, as I do with sponge filters. They do a good job in the filter system of keeping the water clear. I use several different filters in the canister, and each filter performs a task in keeping the water clear. I tear down the tank and canister every two months. The canister and filters are filthy by then, but the water in the tank still looks decent.

Rena XP2 filter

We have a 55 Gal tank with a Rena XP2 filter unit. From bottom to top we use 2-20s then 2 30s, in the next basket it's the activated charcoal then the bio chem stars with two Micro filtration pads to finish it off. Works extremely well. Change the filters ever 2-3 months and have never had any problems even though we tend to overfeed :-( Really have not seen any difference between this and the SUPER filters

No Issues with the pads...

I probably have more of an issue with the filter it goes into (the XP3); I have 3 filter pads at the bottom, stars in the middle, and a micro filration pad at the top with zorb stuff, but I still have large pieces of debris floating around the tank at times, and if it is stopped and restarted, a bunch of debris will come flying out of the output jets, so I'm not exactly sure what that's all about...

You have to make sure that all visible crud is gone before it hits this one. Otherwise it will saturate with poop very quickly.
