Competent Fence Charger

Like other reputable outfits, Zareba makes products that get the job done. My primary gripe for all the manufacturers out there is nobody makes a 120 volt unit that is also outdoor weatherproof (One Star Off). We live up North which means anything solar is limited in the winter. My solution was to fabricate an enclosure vs. throwing a 5 gallon bucket over it. All the items are available on Amazon, i.e. https://amazon.com/dp/B08PNPRKJP?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details for the enclosure and https://amazon.com/dp/B01MRD1X14?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details for the T-Post mount. Performance: Output as advertised. While a solar unit typically runs 6000 volts, this one does around 8000. If you have a strobe flasher (also on Amazon by EFL), it works much better but you have to increase the spark gap on the knocker. Much louder and higher intensity flash. Even if you have an overhang or some weather protection, an enclosure makes sure things will run a long time.

charge and carry distance is good, and installation is easy, grounding not so easy but most important, NOT SO GOOD, very loud, light very dim, and weather proofing difficult and should NOT be Required..

Compact Easy to Install -needs a brighter indicator light

I installed this in a closure out to get closer to the fencing area. Pretty straight forward. Nice and compact unit The only downside is the light that shows status isn’t bright at all. Had to use a separate tester to check the voltage.

It works.

Ahh!. After fighting deer for years with powders, sprays, sprinklers and electronic devices, we put up wire, plugged in this fence charger and...no deer. The work putting in a grounding rod, weatherproofing the device and fooling around with plants to not short out the wire was 100 percent successful. And there was a perverse satisfaction watching the hungry hoards discovering the wire. We hung some old wash clothes soaked with deer repellant on the wires in the middle of former deer highways to give fair warning.

Low voltage only 1/2 mile out

There's only 500 volts about a 1/2 mile out. Not enough shock to stop cows and bulls. Barley enough to stop a dog. Very disappointing.

This fencer work very well. Our new horse touched the fence with his nose and got zapped good and has not gone close to it since.

Not Reliable

This is the second one of these fence chargers that I have purchased (should have stoped after the first one) and both have died approx 13 months after purchase. When they work they are great but they just do NOT last.

Only worked for 1.5 years

easy to setup (most are) but only lasted 1.5 years. very disappointed and will not order again

Very powerfull unit.

The unit was easy to set up. Instructions were clear enough and the fence is up and running. I only wish I had a trail cam where I think my problem is. Would recommend for larger animals and areas.
