frustrating customer service

My A3300 tripped my electric circuit breaker every time when I turned it to above 9. I searched online and some people said this might be a problem with the moter, so I contacted Vitamix customer service for the U.S. and Canada. The first person I spoke with said she wanted to do a few tests over the phone with me and hear the moter to decide whether I can send the unit back to them for further examination and repair. I was not at home at that time so I said I will call them back. When I did call them back, from home, with the unit by my side, this time a different Vitamix person laughed and said no tests can be done over the phone and told me just ship it back. It took about two weeks for me to receive the UPS shipping label. I did not save the original package that the machine came in with, so I had to find my own box, pack it and ship it back to them. (it would be a good idea to save the original package by the way. The shape of the machine is not easy to pack.) It did not too long for them to return my unit to me. After about another two weeks, the machine came back and they said in an email the power cord was replaced. However, when I turn it on, the machine immediately gave an error message that means it is overheated, although I just turned it and it definitely feels very cool. I tried a few more things like turning it on and off, and it blended a couple times but stopped working very quickly. This frustrated me a lot but let me tell you, things got even worse from there. I called Vitamix again to let them know my unit still does not work. After hearing my situation, the customer service person told me to ship it back again. This time, it only tool a couple days to receive the shipping label. A little more than a week after I received the notice that vitamix received my unit, I got an email saying they have sent it back to me by UPS. We waited and waited, wanting to go back to blending again. After receiving UPS notification emails saying out for delivery three days in a row, without receiving my package, I called UPS. UPS could not do and would not do anything for me beside telling me to continue to wait. I called Vitamix, after a long conversion, I finally got them to help me change the delivery method to pick up in a UPS store. (The customer support initially just wanted to kick me back to UPS but I knew UPS would not help me unless the sender does something.) At this point, I notice another weird thing. In the UPS tracking history, on the same day that it say they processed the package at the Seattle facility, there is another line says sender has not sent the package yet, UPS does not have the package. This suggests to me that the UPS system is very confused and they probably has lost my unit. I called UPS but could not even reach a really person. (I realize this is not the right place to complain about UPS so I won't say too much about that customer number.) The only thing that I could think of is to call Vitamix again. The customer service immediately said after the unit is shipped out she could not do anything on me on her end and I need to contact UPS. I insisted I contacted UPS tried everything I could but still could not figure out where my package is right now. I had to go back and forth several times with her and finally she put me on hold for 20+ minutes and contacted UPS herself. When she came back to me, she told me she filed an investigation with the UPS which could take 2 weeks. Vitamix will let me know the result of the investigation via email and I MIGHT receive a replacement if it turns out it indeed is lost. I will come back and update after I hear from vitamix and let you know what the result is. This whole process is very very time consuming and frustrating to me and I wanted to write this out here. When you consider buying an expensive appliance like this and want to keep using it for years, customer support is a really important thing to think about. Although they promise you they build robust machines, they do fail you and if you go out on the internet you will know it is not uncommon. Just be prepared and have the right expectations otherwise you might get disappointed and frustrated like me right now.

Love this thing

Super powerful - I throw whole apples in this thing amongst plenty of other fruits and vegetables and it blends it to liquid. Love the look of the device, very sleek, and the little spinning blade screen saver gives it a great touch. 10 year warranty on top of all of it... Vitamix knocked it out of the park on this one.

Good product but never pay full price

This is my first high performance blender and so far, my experience is positive. I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 because: 1. It's extremely large and it doesn't fit under counter. 2. The plastic around the base isn't the highest quality and vibrates at max speed. 3. This is being picky, but blending at high speed agitates smoothie to the point where it's being thrown allover the container and cover. 4. Hard to remove the lid 5. The small lid that covers the tamper hole comes off easily so it's always falling. I use it for smoothies and making almond milk. The smoothies are very good and almond milk is smooth enough for me that it does not require straining. A little chalky but good enough for cereal. Never had issue with it not recognizing the container. Some complain about air bubble and blade just spins freely. That's normal if the content is too thick and that's what the tamper is for, which is a must have with any blender. The 64oz container and buttons/dial on front are high quality and easy to use. It's definitely a nice looking machine but it is huge. I'm very sensitive to loud noise and was very concerned about buying it. Given its power, I would say it isn't bad. I can stand next to it at level 7 but above that, I have to walk away. It's has sort of low frequency sound, which is less irritating than if it was high frequency. I paid $350 so for that price, overall quality and power, it's worth the money and no regret. I personally don't think it's worth the full price as I think possibly lower priced blenders might do what I use it for but I'm glad I have it and would buy it again.

Vacuum

The best option for vacuum blending on the market today(Google it). A solid, reliable blender. Long warranty from reputable company. Get this with the stainless steel carafe and you have the best option for vacuum blending and consequently vacuum juicing on the market today.

Wow!

Amazing power. Expensive yes. But it put it to use everyday and it does all the task well… except grinding dry Indian Masala. The only down side, still noisy.

Great at high power

I like the blender but thought it was broken! Apparently the cooling fan does not start until after the power is set to 4 or higher so you can’t blend on the low speeds for long before it starts smelling and stops working. I had to email vitamix about the problem to find this out. It definitely works at higher speeds though. Noticeable difference between this and other blenders. Definitely functions more like a commercial blender.

Best purchase I ever made

I use this on average twice a day. Best soups ever. Grates cheese and makes fantastic peanut butter and ice cream. It will puree anything. You do need the scraper though, and have to go directly to vitamix for it.

I love everything about this blender. So far, I have used it to make sorbet, various smoothies, green juice, almond milk and various hot soups. The vitamix ascent series does not dissappoint!
