Sturdy and Easy to Use - some tips

I love these Tovolo molds for popsicles. I just make smoothies in the blender and fill the molds with the mixture. Love it for summer or almost year round in California. The stand is nice and keeps your popsicles in a neat, compact place. They are a great size, too. I have some smaller Kootek popsicle molds and those are nice, too, but about half the size - a little small. 1 caveat: measure your freezer space. These molds stand taller than the smaller 2 oz. popsicle molds. There is only one shelf in my freezer that I can put these on. Make sure you have the room in your freezer. Another consideration is that with molds where you are not using wood sticks, it's pretty hard to freeze them and lay them flat in a drawer. You can, but then, you won't be able to refreeze another batch until you're done eating them. If you want to make a freeze a bunch over a few days, get the kind of molds that use the wooden sticks. Of course then you have to store them IN something, which means using plastic bags and I don't like to do that. Cleaning these is pretty easy. I use a bottle brush with fairly soft bristles. Unmolding the frozen pops: Heat some water for 2.5 minutes in a tall glass measuring cup or a tall jar - where the height of the container is a bit taller that the mold and stick. Hold the frozen pop by the stick and turn upside down into the water for about 15 seconds. Then check to see if it's ready to come out by slightly twisting the handle a bit to see if it will give. If not, put it back in for 5 for seconds and try again. Don't put too much pressure on the plastic handle. It feels sturdy to me, but you wouldn't want to break it. Recipe for Strawberry Yogurt smoothie or popsicles: 10 oz. yogurt ( I use Whole Foods 365 organic whole milk plain, but you can switch it up. I don't like the powdery texture that happens with Greek Yogurt); 3/4 c. Whole Foods 365 organic almond milk; 1/2 tsp. vanilla (I use Nielsen Massey vanilla); 4 packets Organic Stevia; 2 cups frozen strawberries. If your strawberries are not very sweet or you just want to kick that flavor up a notch, add 2 tablespoons strawberry jam or strawberry spread to the container before blending). Delicious! It will make enough for about 4 of these Tovolo popsicle molds.

Easy-Peasy-Lemon-Squeazy Pops!

These are really great. Good size popsicle for adults but probably too much for smaller kids. I'm really impressed at how easily the popsicles come out of the molds without breaking - I just run the mold under hot water (all sides) for 5-10 seconds and then wiggle the popsicle out of the mold. Easy-peasy! The molds stand up sturdily in the tray which makes it easier to fill and the caps stay on really well which is helpful while fumbling to find a spot in the freezer. The only drawback I see to these molds is that they are taller and I sometimes struggle to find a flat surface in the freezer that is tall enough for them, but other than that they take up a small freezer footprint. Once they're mostly frozen, I take the molds out of the tray and leave them in the designated popsicle spot...flat, angled, upside down...however they'll fit. The molds have also been really easy to clean. I just a put a tiny bit of soap in the mold, put the cap back on and shake till clean then rinse. I will definitely be buying more of these so that we aren't limited to 6 pops at a time and making pop-mixes every other day. :)

Terrific for yogurt and fruit pops!

These sturdy pop molds are PBA free and hold 1/2 cup of liquid. Fill half full for children and small eater portions. or all the way (with 1/2" space) for larger portions. The tray holds the molds perfectly upright until frozen, then you can remove the pops and store flat if space is an issue in your freezer. There are so many pop recipe books here on Amazon that it is hard to choose which one to get. I like to make fruit pops with just fruit puree and a touch of sweetener if necessary (stevia liquid, Sweet Drops), and I also take plain yogurt and add fruit, stevia and blend, then freeze. Generally, I have heard that alcohol based flavor extracts like vanilla will prevent freezing, but frankly with low fat or fat free yogurt, fruit with lots of water in it, and low fat milk, the mixture will form more ice crystals than if full fat products and cream were used, like with icecream. Adding the extracts will help keep the mixture from freezing rock hard, and that's a good thing! I have also tried adding a cup of whipped topping to both my pop types and, although this is not real cream, it has lots less calories and helps keep the pops a bit creamier, and less icy. A couple tablespoons of actual alcohol in the mixtures for the adults really makes for a tasty treat! Think creme de mint or kalua! The bottom tray measures about 6"x 6" and stands about 9" tall with the pop holders. Very compact unit, does not take up much space at all. The little tray at the bottom of the pop holds the drips nicely. I looked at other pop molds as you no doubt have, and found that these are more useful because you have the option of making a large or small size pop. The other molds look cute with their swirls, ridges and cute shapes, but pops made with them would be very difficult for a child, even an adult to eat. These molds are smooth sided and far easier to get your mouth around. Simple to use, and so much better for you than eating ready made pops with all their bad-for-you chemicals, food colorings, additives, sugar. P.S. go organic with organic milk, fruit and yogurt!

these popsicle molds are great. I have given up on using the stand ...

For $9 (including shipping), these popsicle molds are great. I have given up on using the stand since the molds don't fit very well, but I just wedge the molds in my freezer in between some other items for support. The size of each mold is perfect for me... some other reviewers have mentioned that they are small but I find them ideal for my toddler (and myself). The downside of free shipping is that my order more than a month to reach me in Canada. There is not much summer left to enjoy my posicles.

Brilliant!

Pleased with these - adult size! Easy to use, good quality, have the tray to prevent toppling over, and you can remove one at a time to use! Be aware that these stand quite tall so you need a freezer drawer or shelf with some height.

I have been looking for these for years, so it was nice to see Amazon.ca selling them. Fabulous, easy to fill and clean, and they are made from a good plastic. For releasing the molds I run them under the tap with hot water (not boiling) and that works fine and does not damage anything.

Not as sturdy as other Tovolo molds...not sure what's going on here

They are ok, but the plastic is not as sturdy as the other Tovolo mold I have (the star shape) so I was a bit disappointed. They also came in a net bag instead of a box which seems a little fishy? They *seem* to be a real Tovolo product but tbh I'm not sure...
