Don’t let the cost fool you, you get what you pay for and then some. Our Tervis SS tumblers have lasted years through hundreds of uses and washings by hand and dish washer w/o fail, discoloration, staining, scratches, or damage to the artwork. In the attached photo, try to tell which one is brand new from the one that is over 4 yrs old. These tumblers last well beyond any others we’ve had, whether metal, plastic, or a combination, and they include features not found on cheaper tumblers. Earlier models came with a pendulum “hammer” lid that for some allowed some fluid to get by when sipped due to an opening too wide for narrower mouths, but our recent purchase came w/new design w/a sliding cover and narrower opening that fixed this issue. Also, the first couple we bought years ago came w/artwork that eventually began to flake, albeit after a few hundred washings in a dish washer. However, newer ones have much more durable artwork that is highly resistant to fading, flaking, chipping, scratching, and losing its gloss. It’s also raised/textured (3D). We own tumblers w/various designs. It’s obvious this US company takes its products seriously. The SS tumbler and lid are practically indestructible. If you drop it on a hard surface no problem. The lid also stays on when you inevitably knock it over, eliminating or minimizing spillage. The lid has a thick, durable silicone seal for around the rim that seals completely. The sign of superior insulation (like these) is an exterior that doesn’t feel warm or cool based on liquid temperature, and doesn’t “sweat.” We’ve never tested the “24 hrs cold or 8 hrs hot” claims, but it does maintain desired temps for hours, better than thermoses and insulated bottles we’ve owned over many years. It doesn’t retain odors or stains, or impart a funny taste like other SS tumblers and thermoses typically do (the company states this is due to the use of copper). Gradual tapering of the tumbler enables easy handling for small or large hands, and it fits most cup holder designs. The bottom part is wide enough to make hand washing practical. The company says to hand-wash, but we’ve run them through the dish washer w/o adverse effects on the SS or artwork, w/only some loss of transparency to the clear lids. Results may differ depending on what detergents or rinsing agents you use, but we use undiluted vinegar as our rinsing agent (to help eliminate hard water spots). We also like their insulated plastic glasses, tumblers, and wine glasses. Tervis is a US company that delivers on function, convenience, and durability, while sporting favorite artwork and logos that last.
