It's PLASTIC!

I ordered this item to match other American Standard Townsend Collecttion items in our master bath. Although it looks great, I was shocked to discover when I opened the package that except for the connector, this thing is made of plastic. For $55, Icertainly didn't expect the shower head to be plastic. You would think it would say in the description that it is plastic. All the other items in the collection are fantastic heavy metal. I pretty much have to keep it since it matches the rest of the collection, but I am really disappointed. I'm glad there is a lifetime guaranty.

It is plastic but works fine.

Good water spray pattern. Much lower cost than metal units. After extended use it probably does not clean up as easy as “self cleaning” expensive movable nozzle jet heads. After 9 months there is no loss of flow or pattern.

Quite expensive for a plastic shower head

At my time of review the shower head is listed at $106.68. If it were actually metal it wouldn't be a terrible deal, but I can't imagine how massive a profit margin they are making at this price. At any rate, it does look quite nice and is very easy to adjust since the head will swivel in all directions. What I can't figure out is how I am, for the first time, running low on hot water before finishing a normal (for me) duration shower. If it's only 1.75 gallons per minute it should theoretically be able to run for over 20 minutes at full pressure, but even when the waterflow is at less than half of the maximum I'm running low on hot water by 20. I honestly may end up just switching back to my previous shower head, which doesn't have such a nice and even flow of water, but at least it's made of metal and uses even less water to achieve the same results somehow. It seems crazy to me how nowadays they can label the product as chrome, nickel, or bronze, and not mention anywhere on the product page that the material is actually ABS plastic.
