By my count, the black one is the 2nd and the black/purple one the 3rd generation in the US. The first generation was sized s-xl and had excessively tight arms, and was small for size. The second gen, in number sizes, was less small, and had too tight, but not so much too tight arms (and silicone leg grippers). The first two were oddly reasonably long in the torso. The 3rd gen is looser in the sleeves (still tight, but more wearable), and is a little less small than the 2nd, but seems to have given back an inch in torso length. No silicone leg grippers (only matters to differentiate from the earlier versions). Oddly, this one is tight in the shoulders. Granted, I have bigger than average arms and shoulders (muscle and, um, not muscle), so if you have slender to average arms, this might be perfect for you. I believe these were intended to have a slight compression fit, and not fit loosely, so don’t expect to fit without some stretch unless you have skinny arms. I love these (well, not so much the purple color), or would, if they were just a touch less tight in the arms and shoulders, were a little more generous in size, and added a half inch to an inch in torso. I’ve tried all 3 (and at least a couple versions only offered outside the US), and many other brands. Speedo is one of about 3 brands that make long sleeve one piece swimsuits that aren’t significantly short in the torso. The pattern is great (all black), the material is great, the quality is great, and for the most part, it’s not too short. Speedo, please make a 16 or 16L with just a little more room in the arms and shoulders. I’ll buy 5.
