I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She sheds...alot. Anyone who owns one knows of what I speak. We allow her to roam and sit anywhere her little heart desires...after all, she's royalty. So, up and down and all around the cushions on our outdoor deck furniture she goes. True dog lovers tend to permit that, even at the cost of having to regularly clean up the dog hair these oh-so-lovable critters invariably leave behind, particularly on fabrics. I had previously been using the standard size (4" wide) 'sticky roller' lint removers obtainable at most big box stores. I found them useful, however each sheet would very quickly lose it's stickiness with even a few roll-overs on the fabric surface of the furniture. I'd probably pull off 10+ sheets in the process, and it took a long time to roll over all the sectional cushions because the rollers were only 4" wide. I needed a better solution. Without knowing whether a wider and stickier roller even existed in the marketplace, I decided to check Amazon.ca. It was then that I came across this 3M Scotch Brite Large Surface Roller. I thought to myself...wow...such a thing is actually available, and better still from a company as recognizable as 3M. Not only was this roller double the width at 8", but it also claimed to be 50% stickier. I thought this latter claim might represent a bit of puffery; but I figured, why not give this thing a try? And, given how reliant I am on sticky paper rollers, compliments of my Cavalier, might as well order the 4-pack of refills once I'm at it. Well...I'm pleased to report that this device is magnificent. The 8" width is stellar, making clean-up much faster. And, true to its claim, the sticky paper is a whole lot 'stickier' than any lint roller I've ever used (and I've used a lot of them). The "50% stickier" claim certainly seems true, to the point that if you rest a fresh roller on a glass table, you'll have to give it quite a tug to lift it off the glass. That's the kind of stickiness I was hoping for, and, importantly, it picks up pet hair like a magnet. If there's any criticism at all, it's that the roller occasionally falls out of the holder if pressure is placed on it at a certain angle, but it's easy to just pop the roller back in and it doesn't happen often. I think 3M could have made the plastic holder a bit more secure in the way the roller slots into it. Unlike the few negative reviews, I have not had difficulty peeling off the sticky sheets, probably because I do it slowly and methodically so the sheets unroll the way they should. Also, exercising a bit of patience goes a long way when tearing off a sheet at the perforations, as they're not necessarily 'easy' to separate but they will do so effectively if you use both your thumbs and index fingers at either outside edge to help start the separation at the perforation. (I would bet dollars to donuts that those who've made negative comments about tearing off the sheets have not followed this suggestion and have therefore gotten the sticky paper all balled-up). Bottom line: If getting pet hair off fabrics (whether clothing or furniture) has been one of your life's minor challenges, you owe it to yourself to get one of these rollers. And no, I haven't been paid to say anything at all about this product, though it would be nice if I was :)
