High expectations , mixed delivery

When I was a kid I enjoyed very much racing cars in a Stabo-car slot track my dad had, my siblings and I had a great time back then. A few months back I started to think about getting a slot car track for my kids and I to play with. I did a good bit of research before I settled in SCALEXTRIC. I bought the START GT America thinking that for the price I would not have much to lose, when I received the package, my kids and I opened it and it was very easy to assemble it, the tracks were solid in my view, but the cars did not seem very durable at all and although I was tempted to returning it before using it, I thought that maybe was only my impression so we gave it a try. We were able to run a few laps and the white car started to make some strange noises, and run extremely slow compared to the blue car, this started as random events, then it became more consistent. Also the back spoilers of both cars came out after a couple of derails. The excitement lasted very little with only one car available, thus I decided to return the item back to Amazon. I am sure these cars are not made to last, but to put in perspective not even a day without one car failing and pieces falling apart is not acceptable in any way or form. To SCALEXTRIC credit though, the tracks were solid, so if you already have the cars, this track would make a fine addition, this is the reason for the mix review.

Scalextric is Awesome!!,but is not the kit you're looking for

This set is a fine working, fun slot car set up. It comes with everything you need to run a modest sized track for racing at home. However ,product labeling and compatibility information is so poor in the Scalextric brand. There a various types of track and cars, with also varying degrees of compatibility First Note... This starter is set is in FACT a START type of track. It's is not the same as classic Scalextric ,or Sport Scalextric or Digital Scalextric. It is in their START line. Which by the way is ''discontinued'' by the manufacturer. The track pieces in this kit are only compatible with other types using a converter, which is provided in the START track kit. But here's the problem. there's only one converter in this kit, you'll need more than one to add extension track kits to this set. It's not the same converter that Scalextric currently sells either it has a completely different connection type, and the one you'll need. The same as provided with the START kit is DISCONTINUED!! so basically you will have a very hard time adding track to this set. Other Scalextric starter sets within this same price range do not have this issue. I would highly suggest any of those over this one. They'll cost maybe $10 more than this ,but it'll be well worth the trouble.

Scalextric START track

Awesome set! I love the fact that included with this set are two adaptors to Scalextric SPORT track. Now I can use the the newer Sport track pieces to make my layout larger. Love it!!

Great set for new or current slot car users. Gave this set to two of my grandsons.

Not very good

This track doesn't go together well. The electronical connection need to run the cars isn't sufficient to make the cars go around most of the time.
