Fun, but stains

My kids love kinetic sand and I get it for them when I can find it on sale. I bought three of these on a B2G1 promo to keep for birthday presents for friends. We opened one for ourselves to play with and while it was fun like all kinetic sand is, there really is not much sand in these, just a little sandcastle mold of yellow, blue, and red. My kids liked what they called the "smoosher" tool, which is the two pieces to make a cylinder of sand. My biggest drawback for this set is that it stained quite a bit! We played with this on a white folding table and the blue and red both bled dye onto the table.

Bought as a Gift

Unfortunately can't say how it works as it was bought as a Gift but I think a 5 year old is going to really enjoy it!

Fun inexpensive gift

The sand is fun to play with, and the kids probably already have tools used for play dough or other modeling compounds which would be great for kinetic sand. Depending on the occasion, just a bag of the sand without tools might suffice. And, the castles make better containers than molds. But - the set is instant fun and made a great gift. I threw the box out, used the whole contents as stocking stuffers, and the kid who usually bounces off the walls was entertained between breakfast and the next round of festivities on xmas day. Brilliant! I recommend this product. Four stars because cleanup is less easy than the description makes it sound (though, much better than play dough) - you'll want a tray of some kind.

Favorite Kid's Birthday Party Gift

This is my favorite gift for a kid's birthday party! They are budget friendly and always a hit with the kids and when they're this age (3-7), it can feel like your buying a birthday gift every week for a child in your kid's class you don't even know. I've gifted this particular Kinetic sand kit at least three times in the last month with a few tucked away for summer parties. This is very much a starter set and is not comparable to the large Kinetic sand kits, but it is the perfect size and price for so many things. It makes a great Easter basket stuffer and is an easy and quick item to throw in the car before we go camping. 10/10 would recommend.

Very therapeutic and great fun

I actually bought this sand for myself after I was introduced to it by a younger relative. The age range says 3 years and UP, and I think it is definitely as great for adults as it is for kids. The texture is strangely soothing and fun to mindlessly mould while you might be getting on with other tasks in your day. I also bought a set for my niece after she saw my set, and she adores it. She loves to let her imagination run wild and mould the sand into whatever she can think of! I have had this set for a while, and I have noticed that if you have water on your hands that hasn't dried yet, and you touch the sand, it will stick and you will need to wash your hands to get it off properly. This isn't too much of a problem really and it is the only time that I have had trouble with cleaning it. Other than that, I think it is an easy-to-use and easy-to-clean toy for everyone!

Great stuff

As with all the kinetic sand products, this one is just as great. It never ever gets old and is an almost everyday play item. Always a clean up but well worth it for the kids and you can always add more sand. I and the kids love this stuff.

Good starter pack

Great buy, sand comes in 3 individual coloured tubs so no drying out of the sand. Lots of tools to use. A good present yet not too expensive! Recommend this ????
