Perfect for a Day Hike

This is absolutely what I was looking for! First, this is a high-quality product - Princeton Tec is MADE IN THE USA and comes with a 5-year warranty, so yes quality does matter! And, as for price, this is an unbelievable value for $20 - you get: (as shown in the picture I took) *The Lamp which emits 50 lumens on low and 200 on high + red LED (at 1 & 4 lumen) *Strap - this includes an elastic strap * 2 AAA batteries I've had cheap headlamps before, and it's not worth it. Better to pay and receive a good quality product that will last if you need it - yes, one of my lamps died while I was hiking at night - fortunately I had a backup. As for time, at 200 lumens a fully charged lamp will last over three hours, while at 50 lumens it will last over 10 hours. At 50 lumen you will likely be able to see some 30+ feet ahead of you. The red LED is a really nice touch, and despite the low luminosity it works very well and you find yourself using it quite a bit. Bottom Line: If you're going to go day hiking, this is a must! This is also a great product which I easily recommend.

Works great for nighttime map-reading and hiking. I recommend for anyone who wants to “pack light”.

Product works well, kind of upset the image shows a headband but this was delivered without.

Definitely defective

I have had the Princeton tec byte headlamp for years and we love it. One of the wore out from use and I wanted to replace it with the same thing so I ordered this. When I got it I checked to make sure it worked and it wouldn’t turn on. You could feel that there was something wrong with the switch. I ordered a replacement and when that came it too didn’t work. I was able to get the red light to come on but that was all. I sent both of them back and asked for a refund. Today I got another one in the mail even though I asked for a refund and this one didn’t work either! What’s going on?

I use this for astrophotography. The red light comes on first and at low. Then slightly stronger red. It exactly what I was looking for!
