Perfect Replacement for Semco Casement Window crank

After 40 years of cranking, the shaft in the worm gear snapped on my Semco casement window. I was thrilled to find this item to be a perfect replacement. No issues at all. Even the screw pattern matches. The original arm was brass color washed and this item is grey, but no one else would notice it.

I’ve had to replace several of these over the years. Failure of the worm gear mechanism has been the only reason for failure, so lubricating with white lithium grease when cranking becomes difficult will likely extend their life.

Perfect Replacement

Needed to replace the opener. The OEM was almost twice as much and was going to take almost a week to ship. Could not be happier with this part.

Perfect Fit

I ordered both left and right hand mechanisms to replace the broken crank casement window actuators on my 1956 home. They were a perfect match. The hardest part was carefully removing the wooden sill cap that covered the old mechanisms. Nevertheless the entire process only took 30-45 minutes per window with no modifications required.All the holes lined up perfectly. The only consideration is the lengths of the short link. There are two variations. An approximate 4” link and an approximate 3” link. Mine required the longer 4” link.

15 Minute Install

When this broke a week ago I was worried. I was sure I wouldn't be able to find this for a 25 year old window. I think I spent an hour and half reviewing options and finding the solution. The installation was much easier than expected. I was concerned I wouldn't be able to get to the screws, but it turned out the wood strip over the mechanism was easy to remove and reattach when done. My window was installed in 1995 when the house was first built (window brand: Kolbe). Product appears to be of high quality and if I have to do any more of these I know it is easy to do. One recommendation, if you do have any of these, cleaning/lubricating any non broken ones would be recommended (pop off the cover, clean, lubricate, and open/close the window to lubricate the gears).

Perfect replacement for old cranks

This crank was the exact replacement to my old cranks. Works smoothly and effortless. Much cheaper then big box store price. Bought 3 of them for multiple sides if windows. Will buy again as needed.
