Small plastic loops resisted breaking and played a major role in an unexpectedly difficult repair

These loops anchor into the screen frame and are used to pull and to compress a spring on the other side of the window screen frame in order to fit a repaired frame back in its window. This turned into a harrowing, sweaty 1-hour struggle where my only hold on the frame are these 2 plastic loops. I worried that my tugging would tear a loop or pull it out of the frame. If the loops gave way the frame wold have fallen 2 stories and wold likely be broken. You might be puzzled why this is so difficult; afterall, the frame came from this window and it should therefore return easily. Well both frame and window relax out of true rectangularity. And there’s a carpet of fibers along the edges to keep insects out. These resist fitting back into the window. I was lucky and persistent and my frame reluctantly returned to its duty keeping bugged out! I have a suggestion. You should have someone who owes you a favor and is not afraid of heights climb a ladder to the outside of the window. He can push the frame from the outside while you compress the spring from the inside.
