Excellent Hose Splice

It is pretty straight forward, this is a connection splice to hook two 4" hoses (or a hose and some other 4" female item) together. The hoses simply slip over the two ends and are held in place by 4" hose clamps (not included but available from many sellers here on Amazon). While it will be durable under normal conditions, it is plastic and so it could be broken if stepped on or crushed. Remember the key to great dust collection versus so so dust collection is to keep your hose runs short; so 3 or 4 of these in a run would heavily impact your collection ability negatively. Whenever you can bring the tool and the dust collector closer together to increase your air flow.

Fitting is usually tough!

Sizes very difficult with all these connectors. Measure carefully and expect trouble! Do research on how to modify joints to fit.

Use up small PCs of hose with this collar.

Powertec came up with this collar and it works perfectly. I had a few smaller hose end pieces left and rather then throw them away or buy a new hose I joined a few together with this and now I have a low priced longer hose that's more useful. Thanks powertec

4" SPLICE - This does exactly what it is intended to do!

This product gets a few bad reviews likely due to misunderstanding the difference of a 4" pipe and a Splice. This is not a 4" PVC schedule 40 pipe, it's not plumbing pipe, it is a hose splice. This is a SPLICE to join 2 pieces of 4" dust collection (flexible) hose together. That being said, I use this splice to create dust collection ports that 4" flex hose will slip on, or I use the 4" quick connect (wedge) fitting. In my photo, I have split the SPLICE and epoxied it in place to work as a connection point for 4" flex hose. If you need to join (splice) 4" flexible dust collection hose, this is a great product. I've purchased a number of these, some for splicing, some for building other connections - works as it should, Great!

Good for transitions

I'm using 4" PVC Schedule 40 pipe for dust collection to several machines. This fitting fits inside the PVC pipe and allows my 4" clear flexible hose to go on the other end. I also glued it into the pipe for one less spot for air to leak int. NOTE: it does not fit inside a fitting just inside the actual pipe.

DOES NOT FIT PROPERLY

Do not listen to the positive comments. I understand what a splice is for, and this doesn't do what it's supposed to. It is too large to fit with a 4" hose, or either of my 2 1/4" to 4" reducers, ALL OF WHICH ARE FROM POWERTEC. How the hell your accessories don't even fit with each other?! Absolutely done with this brand. You've been warned.
