Only thing about this that is OTC is the Box!!! Low quality and does not work half the time!!!

I have always been pleased with OTC brand tools in the past but this one is way off the mark and is the same tool you would buy at the flea market for 5.00. This tool came in a package that says OTC on it and that is it. The tool itself has no markings on it other than MADE In China on it. Does not even say OTC on the tool anywhere! I don't know what has happened here but not impressed with the direction OTC tools seem to be going. The tool itself has hard plastic grips that feel vey cheap. The tool worked great the first time I used it and then I went to use it the other day and will not strip wire at all. The wire just slides out of the grips and does not strip it. I could not find any type of tension adjustment so I guess this tool is just a waste of money. I will be more careful in the future when considering to buy OTC branded tools. Hope this helps.

Not good for solid wire

So I been using these for years and years I am a gps auto tech and i can tell you all the weaknesses and strengths i have tried many different type and this is in my top 2 of all time (23 years experience) not good for solid wire at all but for stranded i love it i can do 22 gauge l the way to 10 gauge ( depending on thickness of gauge) the head on these are beefy but seem to work better then the ones you buy at hardware store. The big weakness is the screws like to unscrew ( use lock tight fixes that problem) and the springs break all the time which you really dont need them for it to work intact i been using mine with no springs for years. Always clean spare wire out of head and clean ,they dont work well if you leave junk in there. They occasional break thin wires just go slow and apply pressure to the top head it works fantastic! I use them on vw ignition wires all the time and maybe break 1 wire a year( average 12 installs with kills a day ). Not insulated to well just be careful the heads touching ground will you strip a hot wire. Also helps from getting crap in between fingernails like broken wire just keep the handles closed while stripping pull and the installation comes right off easily.my other pair I use for tight spots is the yellow and blue strippers matco and snap on sells them and pyt I think but only buy the yellow and blue dont expect the dollar store to sell a set that works (black red)or the blue and black stinks

really good for the price, no good when the wire is to short.
