An EXCELLENT Garden Hose Timer

If you've been looking for a simple, logical, rugged & easy-to-use timer to help you control water usage in your garden, STOP ! You've Found it ! I SHOULD have purchased TWO of these metal-bodied last year - when my old Melnor-brand mechanical hose timer on the front yard hose-bib stopped flowing...not Only would I have saved the $19.07 price & months of Frustration that came from buying it's successor -- the new black-&-yellow Orbit/Melnor, ASIN#: B00004SDWD. Within 35 days of buying it from Amaazon (so, beyond Melnor's "Warranty"), that timer started making grim "crunching" sounds while being set, its 'count-down' for periods less than 30 minutes was erratic - and it Failed to STOP water flow at least twice...so the sprinkler ran for extra hours. Around that same time, the digital timer on the back yard hose was constricting water flow, so I replaced it with this silver & green Orbit Model 62041 with a metal body, and smooth-turning 'clock-work' knob. This Orbit's timer gives reliably timed watering sessions - and ALWAYS stops water flow when it returns to "0". So I got a Second one.

With a timer, I can water something a measured amount of time and not leave it on overnight.

Use this to time water when I am topping off my pool. Easy to use, well constructed and seems to work well.

Simple

Love the fact that this is mechanical and not digital. Simple, easy, no batteries, no programming. Turn the dial to the length of time desired for watering and leave. It cuts itself off. If you don't need the timer you can turn the dial to that setting and run the water 'til your heart's content.

Great timer. I use these on all outdoor taps.

These work flawlessly. I have one on all three outdoor taps at my house. They allow me to water correct amount and not worry about forgetting ro turn the water off.

Leaks after 3 weeks

as it is metal though it might last better but it started leaking after 3 weeks and kept getting worse. It is now in the recycling pile. The plastic one I bought at the same time for half the cost is still going strong after most of the summer and still no drips, let alone the running water that was coming out of the Orbit metal timer.

Useless

Has flattened edges on bottom thread, yet no true square base to seal against. Can not stop from leaking.
