adapter was just what I needed.

I screwed this into a 4" cleanout and then adapted it to accept a drain from a janitor sink in my basement.

Did the job

Threaded airtight onto ABS and had to go female to female to get it to fit onto a Genova 42940 PVC 90 Street Elbow 4'' (1/4 Bend) but worked for a temporary fitting I needed.

Non-threaded end is 4.5" not 4"

I expected to be able to glue 4" PVC pipe onto the non-threaded end, but it's too big. It does fit the flared end of the pipe but this might be a coincidence, plus only one end is flared and I bought two of these adaptors. If it's really just made to fit other adaptors, elbows, etc., then this should be made clearer in the documentation.
