Worth their weight in bronze...or zinc...

These are heavy weight, metal cup pulls finished with a dark oil-rubbed finish. I was curious whether they were really made from bronze...they looked a bit like cast iron...so I took a metal file and filed a back corner a bit. Even though most sites say that this is made out of cast zinc, a bronze color shown through where I removed the surface oxidization. Digging a little deeper showed a white shiny metal...clearly not bronze. I’m guessing that it really is zinc but with a heavy bronze plating. It feels a little cheezy to call these oil-rubbed bronze when they're primarily zinc, but that's what they are... In any case, the inside of the pull is smooth and feels good against my fingers. My only complaint is that the distress marks are cast into the surface, rather than be hammered. This means that they are all identical in both position and appearance. I think at this price point they should be more individualized, either hand-distressed or, at the very least, made in half a dozen different molds with different markings. The eight that I've received so far have been absolutely identical... The pulls are mounted using the two screw holes at their ends. Unlike most other pulls, they do not use a hole going through the drawer front. If you're really picky and want the screw slots to point in the same direction in all of your handles, you're pretty much out of luck with live screws...you'll need to get a different handle with dummy screw heads and through-hole mounting. I strongly suggest that you predrill a small hole (3/32" or 7/64") and use a hand screwdriver. A power driver is likely to cam out and leave a rough edge in the screw slot. As long as it fits properly, you can use either a Phillips or a flat-bladed screwdriver. With that all being said, I really like the look. I went through quite a few different pulls trying to find something that was both functional and good looking. These check all the boxes...

Perfect length

I love this cup handles ar a good length I had to cover cutouts in my project. Yes you can tell they are all made from the same cast but nobody is ever going to notice it. This peice was originally a desk that was made into a blue buffet. I stripped and made it match all my other cabinets. Which all have this same cup style handle. Was super easy to install line them up and drill a pilot. Then just screw them in. This was the easiest part of this project.
