Let me start by saying that this review is NOT a reflection of Sunglass Hut: this is my 4th pair of sunglasses with them (3 pair through Macy's), and they've been quick to answer any concerns I've had, especially with this pair of glasses. I'll rate Sunglass Hut with 5 Stars. So I purchased my first pair of Maui Jim's, Orchid, Peacock, April 2018. Loved these glasses, lost them June 2019, was heartbroken, found them on Amazon, saw that they came in this beautiful Rose color, and decided to add them to my Wish List in case they ever went on sale. Bought other less expensive brands, but always had this pair in the back of my mind. (And then my original pair reappeared about a month ago!!). Just before Black Friday, while searching for something else, I saw that these sunglasses were on sale for $174.99 from the usual $249.99 (Maui Jim's $75.00 off? Wow!), so I simply had to have them. However, when I got them, a few things stood out: the color, and, more importantly, the case. The color issue is that, if you look at the picture below, you'll see that the frame is not really brilliant shades of purples/pinks unless you shine a light behind them: they're more of a deep red, and that's with SOME light shining through (and your face is not a light so they're pretty dark frames). BUT, this was not as much of a disappointment as the case. The case! This ugly, black, triangular, semi-hard case really won't protect your expensive sunglasses. In fact, if you look at my 4th picture, you'll see that you can actually see ALL the way through this case from the felt covered cardboard sides WITH the case closed. And because you also don't get the beautiful soft case with these like normal but rather a small cleaning cloth (picture), your glasses are not protected from lint and dust while in the case. Sadly, I verified with Maui Jim that this IS their newest case, so I had to decide whether or not I wanted to keep these. I ran a search for the older clam shell case with the cleaning cloth, found several options, placed a bid on a brand new case on Ebay, won it, and my new wicker look case with soft case will be here tomorrow, all for $12.50. SO, I decided to keep these sunglasses because, while I have another pair of "rose colored glasses" which I love, they aren't polarized and that matters. There's no doubt that Maui Jim makes great, well-made sunglasses: in my opinion, they're hands down the best. BUT, they've compromised the whole experience of ownership by drastically downgrading the quality of the case/soft case. I'm hoping that enough people will complain and they'll return to the original cases. PS: I wanted to provide the statistics for lens width/distance between lenses/length of arm for Maui Jim's Orchid because it took some searching for me to get this: 56/19/140. Hope that helps prospective buyers.
