For prom I had a high slit in my dress and I needed some spandex short enough to not show and these did the job. Not only that but they were high waisted enough that I consider them not only shorts but also a shapewear. The only thing I will say is to not wear these if you're going on a road trip where you'll be sitting down for a long time because if they ride up they are not comfy.

I will buy these over and over again!

These are not great for those looking for high structure shape wear, but for those that need a little extra support. I have a lot of tummy (PCOS), and normal underwear, even high waisted, tend to roll down or I just feel uncomfortable, or there's inconsistent stretch between elastic and fabric for my size of underwear. These help me feel a little more comfortable in my day to day outfits without feeling like a sausage or overheating. It's just a tuck on the tummy/hips/muffin top without squishing my butt down and offers more breathability in the bottom/seat. The waistband is a little tight when it first comes so it does sit higher than I like at first, but with a couple washes the elastic softens perfectly and sits right on my pooch. These might be great for postnatal, C-section, and hysterectomy ladies too who need a bit of support as they recover. I used to get these from Target and or Kohls but haven't been able to find them lately, thank goodness for Amazon!

Very comfortable, just the hint of shaping.

I’ve worn these for a while now. They’re really comfy, I love the boy short style, stays in place, no creeping! They come up high on waist & have just the right amount of shaping at waist. Stretchy enough that there is no muffin top. I was buying them elsewhere and they started to only carry the lace brief style or the thong style, I don’t like either of those, so I’m glad I found the boy short again. Update: taking one star off because they vary in how much they stretch. The sizing has become inconsistent.

Poorly constructed.

Firstly, the positive...very comfortable around the tummy, with the right amount of compression to smooth it - and the high waist band does not roll down. The front seam of the crotch panel, on the other hand, was not properly matched to the upper part, so the thick stitching at the edges of the panel stick out at the leg opening, not pleasant at all !! To top it off, it rolls up in the front (not back) creating a very noticeable, uncomfortable dip at the top of the thigh. in MAIDENFORM's Dream Cotton w-Lace Boyshorts I wear my usual size Small without an issue so I consider this item to be poorly designed. The negatives outweigh the positive so I cannot recommend this product.

NO HIP SUPPORT

I would have loved this product if there was more hip support. The stomach is well supported but the fabric loosely hangs over the hip. So disappointed.
