Nice budget tool

I have used the "other" lever lock brand for years but the last 2 times they have not held up. I thought I would take a chance on this tape measure. I like it. It locks up well, recovers quickly and is a handy size. I'm sure it's a clone of something else from the parent company but I would but it again.

Great locking mechanism, but heavy

I like this, it's sturdy, but just a little bit heavier than is comfortable to me when I'm doing projects around the house

Handy little 2-pack!

Great little tape measures with a somewhat unique retraction mechanism (auto-lock with retraction triggered by pushing down on the base) and a very reasonable price. No issues with accuracy that I've encountered, and surprisingly pleasant industrial design. The plastic body likely wouldn't hold up to actual contractor-level usage, but for the 'home gamer', it seems durable enough. Put the big one in the toolbox and the other in that junk drawer we all keep the random stuff that we want readily available in. As an aside, the large one is maybe the perfect tape measure for tabletop wargaming like Warhammer. The auto lock is a godsend, the blade standout is well over 36 inches and the unique retraction mechanism is uniquely suited to the sorts of measurements done in those games where you're typically holding the measure's body the whole time and then can just squeeze to retract it.

It is, oops was, broken

I have used this tape measure a few times for short lengths and it worked fine. Today I extended it over a few feet and it failed to retract properly. I pulled it out and tried it multiple times. If I could get it to retract and then pulled it out again, it would fail. It is one week beyond the Amazon return period. The manufacturer would replace it if I send it to them but the cost and nuisance of returning it is more than the cost of a replacement. If it worked properly, I would like it. Update: Since I had decided that the tape measure was broken and that I would not be sending it back, I decided to open it to find the problem. I removed four screws and with some wiggling got to the interior. On the spool that holds the tape there was a warning about the spring being under a lot of tension and that it would be better if I did not mess with it. So I put it back together and - it works fine. Go figure. While I was at it, I removed the belt clip which I never used and was in my way.

Everything's better with Black and Decker

This tape measure does what it does best. With its auto lock function, you simply hold down the button, extend the tape as long as you need, and then release. Then when you're done, simply hold it down again to retract. Yeah, it's got some weight to it, but that's what I like most. This product not only looks sturdy, but it also feels sturdy. Lastly, I got thing to extend about 8ft, without resting it on a surface, before it gave way. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but I'm personally not holding it against this project. Not doing any big home projects anyway. All and all, this measure is awesome and gives me a good indication on the quality of Black and Deckers' products.

Good tool

Took a little bit to get use to the lock mechanism. The only thing negative to say is the main reason I bought it. No metric. For carpenter work its great but didn't realize how often I use a tape measure to convert mm to inches until I got this. Still for building stuff its great

No, it didn't change my life, but it does everything I expect in a tape measure. It unrolls, retracts, locks into place, has a belt clip, is shiny, and is easy to read. It's a quality tape measure.

Good for the average handyman

I have never seen a tape measure that has so many easy to read marking on it, which makes this easy to read for anyone. This tape measure has a good weight to it and is very easy to use.

Doesn't have centimeters

I ended up returning it because it doesn't have centimetres. I prefer one that has both. However, it was easy to read (numbers were large), locks well, seems to be good quality.

Muy buena cinta

Me encantó el diseño de esta cinta, compre la de 2 tamaños y la de 16 pies siempre la cargo. Lo único que no me gusto es que no es doble vista en las medidas. Solo trae una vista para las medidas, pero fuera de eso me encanto!
