Three strikes and it's out...

While initially satisfied with this diverter valve, it eventually became too much of a hassle to use. The three things that turned relative satisfaction into dislike were that the pull-valve easily unscrewed and came off, the water flow through the valve and into the sink (out the bottom) was HUGELY reduced (there was more coming out of the side of the thing into the attached tube than from the bottom) and eventually the "auto-shut-off" feature that returned it from diverted flow to straight flow became unreliable (which caused some issues due to panic-exacerbated minor floods). It didn't initially fit my faucet, but I found an adapter at my local hardware store that fit it fine. I did need to use the washer from my original aerator to make it seal up, but I had no other problems with it after that. I wasn't pleased by the low water flow out the bottom, and tended to use the tube to rinse or fill stuff. But we can't afford to clean up floods and constantly checking to see if it's in or out (I takes two handed operations if one hand is holding a tube to KEEP the pull valve out at times). Once the auto-shut-off became unreliable, that was the last straw. We used this several times a day for water pitchers and such. Whether that caused excess wear is unlikely since I've only had this for a couple of months. It did take a wrench to tighten sufficiently to keep from leaking. Had it not been as stingy in water flow out the bottom as it was, we could have lived with it. I don't replace things unless there are at least three things wrong with it, or accommodations can't be made. But once the auto-shut-off stopped working reliably, I decided it had to go. It's a series of small hassles that told me there had to be something better. I just installed theFaucet Divert Adapter and though it came with a compression stem instead of the tube-kind, it worked well with the 3/8" tubing we put on it. The water flow was equally strong out the bottom and side and although there's no auto-shut-off, it's a lot easier to see which direction the water is flowing just by looking at the direction the valve was turned. I won't be returning this push button diverter since it's been used for a few months. But I also won't recommend it to anyone who plans on using it anything more frequently than once or twice a month since wear seems to be an issue with it.
