Please be aware you also need to buy the required connector cable!

This little box is fine - it's just a junction box that allows you to encase the splice of your house wiring in a box. HOWEVER it does NOT include the cable that is required to connect this box to your Ultrapro transformer. You must buy that cable separately. It baffles me why they would not include the $3 cable in with this box. The box is useless without the cable!

Clean Installation

First off, if you are wiring to a switch with an outlet, this is not necessary. However, if you are replacing direct wired lighting as I was then this is a really good way to go. Not only does the installation look clean, the installation is easy and tidy. In my installation, I had 3 direct wire connections (fluorescents) chained across the counter-space while operated from a wall switch that I replaced. For my install, I used 3 of these boxes to house the electrical wiring and connections using the supplied wire nuts. In my case, I had a bit more wire than would fit in the junction boxes so I trimmed up the wire lengths and finished the install. What is not shown in the pictures, is a strain relief assembly, the supplied wire nuts, a grounding strap and 2 mounting screws. The electrical connections going into the junction box are hot, neutral and ground. With the knock-out and strain relief assembly, there is room for about 5 electrical wires to pass through (tight but fits). In my case 2 hot, 2 neutral and one ground. 2 lights were chained and ended with the 3rd light. The output from the junction box going to the LED iight assembly, is a 2 wire power extension cable. One side has 3 connection connector (junction box side) to a 2 connection connector (light assembly side). This 2 wire power extension cable is supplied with the matching LED light (check compatible parts). Installation once you get familiar with your setup, shouldn't take more than 30-40 minutes per junction box.

Box volume not listed on box - one romex only!

Most electrical boxes list the volume on the box, which allows you to determine if the box is large enough for the application, but this is not provided either on Amazon, on the box or in the enclosed literature. If you try to use two 14-2 with ground wires (one incoming power, the other outgoing to the next fixture). The calculated minimum box volume is (4+1)*2 = 10 cu in (the 18 AWG wires from next door led light transformer don't count in this calculation.) Honeywell does not list the volume of this box, unlike most electrical boxes. I looked at the product description and saw (4.75x2*1.125 = 10.7 cu in which is OK) but the actual length of just the box not including the fixing tabs is 4" not 4.75" so the actual box volume is (4x2*1.125 = 9 cu in) - too small for two cables! Lots of applications have both an incoming and outgoing Romex, so not sure what they were thinking when sizing these boxes.

for direct wire undercab lights

the honewell lights are the best ive found and i looked a lot. turned out really well. they have a switch on unit and a quick link cable that allows you to add more without wiring. this splice box makes it more legit with a smaller profile. very easy to install and use with all screws provided. also wirenuts. worth the 8 bucks.

Pointless

This box doesn’t come with the right connection to plug the lights into it. I had to hardwire the lights to my romex inside the box. Very disappointing.

over priced and not necessary

Its just a plastic box to make connection in. You can buy a low profile plastic box at Home Depot for much less. Cut off the plug to the light bar and make the connection and seal this box. You could also use plastic " wire mold" to run your wire and make the direct wire connection. Very impressed with the light bar.

Use this to hardwire honeywell LED light fixture

use with 12", 18", 24" and 36" inch plug in LED light fixtures to that you can hardwire them to a wall switch. Comes with everything you need. Insures that you get the polarity right when you hardwire it so you don't risk burning out light fixture.
