Challenging

The fireworks were a challenge. There were a few pieces where the top (the color) was separating from the cardboard so I glued them but other than that it was fine. No enlarged poster included.

Quad City

A cityscape never looked so good as the one depicted in this puzzle by Springbok. Quadrilaterals dominate the scene in a multicolored jumble of rectangles and squares. Splashes of color on the buildings’ surfaces suggest the reflection of the fireworks exploding above. There are hints of Chicago’s famous diamond-shaped top of the Smurfit-Stone building. Or perhaps we are seeing New York City’s Irving Trust and 4 World Trade Center. Maybe that's the Book Tower or Penobscot Building in downtown Detroit. It could be that artist Jeffrey Owen Hanson has painted bits and pieces of lots of architectural gems into this 1000-piece image. The vibrant colors, sharply rendered shapes, and familiar yet abstract designs lure you in to this image. The title, “View From the 28th Floor”, is another clever twist in the creation of this work. It imagines that we are in a different, shorter and off-screen building watching the fireworks against the backdrop of the stately, unnamed city. We are both observer and, in the building of the puzzle, a participant. The perspective piece – where are we in this scene? - is the best part about building this puzzle: your imagination can be as colorful as the skyline. A beautifully designed puzzle and a joy to build.

Beautiful Puzzle - Below Springbok Puzzles' Usual Quality

Springbok has been the "gold standard" to which I have compared other companies' puzzles. Hopefully this particular puzzle was an outlier. Per Springbok's usual standards, the puzzle looks just like the picture and the puzzle pieces fit together very well and are varied in shape and size. What was unusual was the quality of the puzzle starting with the box. The box was not the usual thick cardboard or even put together in the usual way. The pieces were of thinner cardboard than usual and created a large amount of puzzle "dust". I hope this is a one time problem.

Very detailed and extremely challenging puzzle.

It is an interesting puzzle. We were able to complete the buildings, although it required a great deal of attention to small details; but the sky fireworks were way too difficult for us, and we ended up not finishing the puzzle. But if you can differentiate the chaotic detail, this would be a great puzzle for you. Just past our tenacity.

Fun and very challenging puzzle

We really enjoyed putting this puzzle together. Springbok has incredibly creative puzzle-piece shapes, and the quality of the pieces is excellent -- thick and sturdy -- so there is never any doubt about where a piece fits. The picture is lovely too, perfect for gluing and hanging.

High difficulty level

Loved this puzzle. It presented a challenge which we love. Definitely a higher difficulty level puzzle. Springbok puzzles are always high quality, so it definitely met our expectations.
