High quality, if that's what you're looking for

When I received this hair dryer the packaging was top notch. When I picked it up the first though was this had some weight to it. This dryer is all metal and rubber covering the handle, the back where the screen is and strips down the sides. When you set it down on the counter it's not sliding anywhere. This hair dryer feels like it was made for salon use. (8 hours a day) and last along time. I will be using it 5 minutes a day so I hoping this will be the last one I will ever need. I have read some reviews and cannot believe people have paid over $200 for this dryer. If you do your research you can find it for under $50. This hair is a bargain and worth every penny. I paid $46 and highly recommend buying this hair dryer.

Good dryer but really seems overpriced

I have fine, naturally curly/wavy, very tangle-prone blonde hair. Though it's fine, I have a TON of it and it takes forever to dry. I was hoping, based on the price point of this dryer, that it was meant to compete with the drying power of the Dyson (like Shark vacuums did with Dyson vacuums). While this is a good hair dryer, it's not as powerful or quick-drying as I had hoped, and it's really heavy compared to my previous dryer. It's also confusing in that it's priced so much higher on here than on the Hot Tools website itself (not to mention several other 3rd party sites). I can't find any difference except maybe the travel bag (which I don't use really). Here's a summary: Pros: --It does dry more quickly than my previous dryer (also from Hot Tools). It's not as hot, but it has great airflow, so it seems to dry better with less heat (a good thing for fine hair, which gets broken/damaged quite easily). --It isn't as loud as the dryer I have now (though that's not a high bar). --I find the shorter nozzle/body easier to work with when drying with a round or paddle brush...it doesn't force me to hold my elbow out at such an unnatural angle for so long when directing the flow at the hair in the brush. --The diffuser is great on curly hair. --The cool shot responds quickly. --Long cord!! I am constantly jerking my other cord out when I turn my head because it's plugged in under my vanity and is only 6 ft long (so most of it is used by the time it gets up to my head). The 9' cord allows me to move freely. Huge plus for me. Cons: --It's a lot heavier than my other dryer, and that weight is noticeable when you have a lot of hair and are basically holding it in one hand for 20 minutes while you work through drying it all. My hand and wrist were more tired after using it, but my elbow and arm were less so (because of the angle). --No medium setting. Not a huge deal because it doesn't seem to get as hot as other dryers, but still a nice option (I usually use medium on my top layer as it gets the most damage, but I used low with this one. It took a little longer, but not as long as it would've with a dryer without this much airflow). --Priced over $100 more here than on the Hot Tools website (and even more on other sites). I may be missing something, but they look exactly the same, down to the specs. You can see from the list that there are many more pros than cons; still, I was a bit let down as I expected a dryer that sells for $249 to wow me, and this one didn't. It's a good dryer (so, 4 stars), and I would pay $120 for it, but probably not much more than that. I should note that it has a 4 year warranty which, if actually honored, would make it worth more than many other dryers as I've never gotten more than about 2 years out of a hair dryer (and Helen of Troy is a well-known company, so they're not going to disappear and leave you holding a useless warranty). However, I don't know how well it is supported. If I encounter an issue and need to use it, I'll update.

Powerful Hair Dryer But A Little Heavy For My Liking

Unfortunately due to some medical complications I tend to have fairly weak wrists. For this reason I am always looking to make my morning routine shorter. My hair is very thin and fine but it is very long. For this reason it takes me forever to get my hair dry as there isn’t any way to be working on the whole thing at once. I saw this hair dryer and got really excited. I was hoping for a lot of power to be able to dryer my hair faster but with maybe slightly less heat. I have found with other dryers the higher the blowing power the less heat I need to get it dry fairly quickly. Additionally since my hair is very thin it gets heat damaged quickly. For this reason I tend to dry my hair on a high speed and a medium heat. I was pretty disappointed that there wasn’t a medium setting. I was pleased though that even the low setting was pretty powerful on this dryer. However I am sure that the reason it is so powerful is because the motor is so big which leads to it being pretty heavy. While this blow dryer definitely cuts the dry time over my other dryer it is much heavier so over all my wrists are still sore afterwards so there wasn’t as big of a win as I would have hoped. There is a really nice grip on the handle of the dryer so it is really easy to keep a good hand on it while you are using it. I especially appreciate this as a lot of times I am using product on my hair before I start drying it which can leave my hands more slippery than usual. I really love the travel bag. I have a really small house and I barely have enough room in my bathroom for everything I really want to keep in there. For this reason it is so much easier when all the parts that come with something can all fit together in one bag so it doesn’t get lost. I have really long hair so I never really have a need for the concentrator but the diffuser I use all the time. Overall I think this is fairly good dryer but I would appreciate it being slightly lighter. I also think that it should have multiple heat and power levels maybe 3 or 5 each for the price they are asking for it.
