Seems to work good test button doesn't work

Seems to work. Test button to read battery doesn't work either manufacturer placed the button in the ring spot or the control board in the wrong spot either way works for the price

Great product and great fit to the trailer.. needs a better breakaway cable holder/housing.

Very easy to install and directions were perfectly written. the breakaway cable and holder/switch is not very stout and the cable is longer than needed for my application. The wires could have come with extra insulation considering the install is outdoors.. but I fixed everything and used a soldering iron and heat shrink to get everything more secured.

used to replace a 20 year old system

I have two trailers with battery backup braking. They only get used two or three times a year but I hate having equipment that is not 100% operational. All of the wiring was a mess...the cheap splicing connectors were falling apart, wiring insulation was cracked and I had no idea if the battery was any good or the entire system operational. Hence my reason for purchasing the Hopkins 20099 system. The unsealed plastic case is the weakest part of the system. It allows water to seep in and the plastic mounting ears will deteriorate over time and break off. Since I have a large toolbox on the trailer I decided to mount it there. It'll be out of the elements and hopefully lengthen it's lifespan. Instead of using splicing connectors, I ran all wiring to a trailer wiring connection box. Any splices that were outside of the box were soldered and enclosed with shrink wrap tubing. I am considering adding a solar charging panel to keep the battery charged during periods of non use.

Not a conductive grease

As several others have stated, this is NOT a conductive grease. I imagine it will keep away corrosion (as most any grease would), but it's sold as a grease that "improves" electrical connections. It does NOT improve them, it only (at best) helps maintain whatever connection you already have by reducing/elimating corrosion. IF you're looking for a conductive grease that actually improves electrical connections, look elsewhere. This product does NOT do that.

Great Product

This is an awesome product that works as advertised. Well worth a 5 star rating. However, as a 30+ year senior electronics technician on test and evaluation of the newest military fixed wing fighter/attack aircraft, I replaced their inferior nickel plated mounting hardware with about $20.00 worth of grade 8 bolts, washers, and self locking nuts; stainless steel machine screws, washers, and self locking nuts; and a couple of tubes of non-corrosive gasket maker to seal everything before mounting to prevent moisture from getting trapped between plastic and metal (which could cause rusting). NON-CORROSIVE SEALERS will not have that vinegary smell. Have a pail of soapy water (like you would mix for washing dishes) ready with a rag to wipe off any excess sealer after mounting. This same soapy water can also be used to smooth out the edge with your finger, to a professional look; just keep your fingers wet with the soapy water. If you immediately wipe off your hands with a clean dry rag, and sealer should easily come off. Then finish up by just washing your hands. It would have been nicer had this been designed with a door to cover the control panel; which is made of some type of vinyl and will most certainly deteriorate over time, in the sun, to the point it will become densely clouded and non-transparent.

Had to replace old box because decal on frount came apart due to sitting in the elements here in oregon. Excellent price, comes with new battery.

I recommend this product, it's easy to install and it works fine. Simple if you have basic electric understandings.. there are just 3 wires, 12V from the truck to charge the battery, Ground and brake... brake away switch and 4 self tapping screw to put the box on the trailer and you're basically done with the installation..

Great Product.

Great product for your trailer. You can quickly verify the condition of the battery, and diagnose potential wiring issues. This is extremely helpful when dealing with the CVSE, and scale personnel. Better presentation allows for a smoother and quicker inspections. I will purchase again. Installation was easy with the self-tapping screws provided. Included wiring diagram was detailed and easy to follow. Installation time will depend on your wiring skills and preferences. I prefer to use solder and heat shrink, so that would take longer than say butt connectors.
