Great for home bar

Given what it does it's nothing flashy but gets the job done for a home bar.

Reduces mess associated with spring strainers.

We Drink cocktails and have several shakers. We own a traditional chrome tumbler w/ large glass shaker - without strainer (old style) we sometime’s have to use. It’s messy when you have a pretty full tumbler. Lots of edge spillage. Pilot error maybe. The spoon strainer really beats the spring strainer spill-wise. Much easier to use! Much easier to see/control. It’s actually for Juleps to strain mint and is great for muddled drinks.

It works well at straining

The spring is what holds back the ice shards etc. this is much better than my previous generic Hawthorne strainer. Its does a good job. Easy to clean up. I expect many "happy" hours of use from it.

Be ready to clean

the inventory sticker ON the strainer leaves a residue that was a little bit of a pain to get off with just soap and water. Construction looks good.

Well made and easy to use

This was one of the first things I dug out of the box when I moved, I couldn’t wait to make a drink! It’s a well made product, very lightweight, and works well. Looking forward to stepping up my cocktail making routine.

Liked it so much I bought two...

Works well with tins or mixing glass. Nice tight coil to keep ice chips out of drinks. I like it enough I bought a second one to give to a friend.

Who Needs This?

Of my many recent purchases from Amazon, this may be the only one I regret. There's nothing wrong with it really, It's an attractive and solid feeling product. It's just that in retrospect, I don't know why anyone would need a julep strainer if they already have a Hawthorne strainer (which is much more practical). I still haven't mastered how to use the strainer in a mixing glass. Piece of advice, if you do purchase a julep strainer, skip this one in favour of one with a longer handle
