I'm very pleased with this vest. For me, this is an essential piece of safety equipment for riding my motorcycle. This mesh vest replaces another that I previously had, but this one is designed and manufactured better. For $30 I feel I got a good value. My other vest was tear-away design, which has its advantages; but I find I prefer this one; the velcro on the tear away one would occasionally come detached and have to be re-adjusted again, which became annoying. This one stays together by design, which feels more snug and secure. Also, there is a zipper closure up the front of this, which is stronger than velcro; and the zipper itself is heavy duty, unlike some flimsier zippers on other vests I've had. And it has ample pockets. Only one of the breast pockets is designed to fasten close; both would be better, but you can't have everything, and I can live with that. If I have something important like keys or bank card, etc. they go into the one with the closure, that's all. And as far as that goes, both of the side cargo pockets have secure closures and are big enough for phones, wallets, etc., so no problem at all. There is also a huge inside pocket on the left (with a wide velcro closure) designed to carry documents, maps, etc. While it's great for that purpose, I find that it's also plenty large to hold my riding gloves; so when I go into a store I can just shove them in the inner map pocket, and it's one less think to carry (alternately I can toss them inside my helmet which I carry with me, but there is always the chance they might accidentally fall out if my arms get loaded up and I'm distracted, so the inside pocket is better). Also (this is important), in terms of sizing, I read a lot of the other reviews carefully since I didn't want to end up with one that doesn't fit and have to mess around with returns. Most reviews that I read said that the vest runs a bit large. So I heeded those reviews. I'm about 180lb, about 5'8", and normally in a shirt or vest I would wear a medium or often large. But I ordered a small size, based on the reviews I read, and I'm glad I did. The vest I got fits quite nicely, I think; not too snug, not too loose. There is room that I could still wear it over a jacket if I want; but it's also a decent enough size to just throw over a T-shirt for summer riding. The small size was a decent fit and gives me the versatility I want. You can judge for yourself in the picture. So yes, if you normally would wear a medium or large, I'd definitely order a small size, or else you're likely to be swimming in it. That said, order the correct size, and you'll probably be quite happy with this vest. Feels well put together, with durable materials, and a good heavy duty zipper. It's very bright and noticeable, so good for safety. Lots of (usefully sized and placed) pockets. And the fact that it's mostly mesh makes it quite breathable if you're using it in the summer. No regrets; I may even get a second one to have on hand for the day when this one gets worn out eventually. You could easily pay more than $30 for other vests that don't give you this value.
