I first came across Glamglow through one of the (too many) subscription boxes I get. So far, I’ve used three of them – this product: Powermud Dual Cleanse Treatment (green packaging – LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!), Flashmud Brightening Treatment (orange packaging – a close second place), and Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment (black packaging – to be avoided at all costs). First off, I like the packaging of Glamglow products. The boxes are really cute, easy to open, and they include multi-language pamphlets. This is to be expected because of the higher price point, I think, compared to other products. The jars feel solid, and you get a decent amount of product – however, I do think the recommended price is too high, for what you get. At least on Amazon you can get it for a lower price than at, say, Sephora. I do really like the product itself. There is a definite scent, sort of like muddy tea I suppose, that I don’t mind. It’s a light beige color, with flecks of what I can only presume to be leaves. These flecks aren’t too big, but you definitely see them, especially when applied to your face. They don’t bother me and I certainly don’t have any concerns that they’re going to clog or damage the drain in my bathroom sink. I use my (clean) fingers to apply and I like that it’s not too thick, and not too runny. It stays in place and turns kind of translucent when dried. I don’t really feel anything when it’s on, but it feels really nice on the skin when it dries. My favorite part is taking it off – apply some water to your hands, rub the mask gently and it turns into a really nice oil, then wash off. I like to massage the oil into my skin for a minute or two before rinsing. I also love that you only need to have it on for 5-10 minutes. After removing I apply my usual serum followed by moisturizer. I like that my skin still feels tight (but not in a dehydrated way) even after I’ve applied moisturizer. I use this product once a week, with the orange Glamglow mask on a different day, also once a week, and my skin looks and feels great! For reference, I have combination skin with an oily t-zone and the occasional small dry patch in the colder months. I don’t have any issues with acne or breakouts. I didn’t have a problem with breakouts before I used the product so I can’t say if it’s good for acne-prone skin. Lastly, one quibble I do have with Glamglow products is that, for the three I’ve purchased at least, the directions for use are not printed on the jar itself. The jars say the usual “safe use” things – avoid eye area, rinse with water if you do get it in your eyes, external use only etc. but do not state how long to leave the product on for, whether it should be applied to dry or wet skin, and the like. Those directions are found in the paper leaflet included in the box though, but it is a bit annoying to have to dig the leaflet out if I forget length of time for the products I use – especially since they’re all different. Also, the ingredients list is only found on the box, not on the jar, or in the paper leaflet. I haven’t knocked a star off for this, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
