Fixed the problem

Fixed the problem. My refrigerator was making a clicking noise about every 3 minutes, and not cooling. After some research and inspection of the old part, all signs pointed to this little guy being fried as the culprit. I plugged this guy in, took care to replace the leads just the way they were before, and once everything was hooked up the refrigerator started cooling again normally. I'm very happy I haven't had to purchase a whole new refrigerator.

fridge compressor start relay

This 'relay' is needed to start refrigerator compressor. Without it the compressor won't start, gets hot and constantly kicks out overload switch. There are a plethora of similar items for sale but you must get the one with the correct part number because the resistance value is calibrated for your compressor start winding. Old unit fell apart internally and the replacement is working fine.
