Decent Skimmer...Except For The Bloody Massive Handle

I don't get these chunky handles on all the kitchen utensils made today. All the major manufacturers are doing this, but most people have utensil jars. What do you think happens when all the handles get too big? No room for all of your utensils. This Frigidaire (why exactly is Frigidaire making utensils?) skimmer was a great price and just what I was looking for to avoid scratching the non-stick on my Dutch oven. It does it job, but stains easily. Frankly it would be better if it were colored black. The real reason I took two stars? The stupid handle rest or kickstand to keep the skimmer propped up and off the counter. That works if nothing is dripping off the skimmer, but we all know that's not the case. Additionally, the problem is I can't remember to put the hook/stand inside the pot when I'm trying to leave the skimmer on top. If you set the handle stand outside the pot it will flip up and out of the pot throwing a little of whatever is still on it high in the air and on your or the floor. It's happened to me twice. The weight of the end of the handle shouldn't cause it to tip downwards. I'm like a dog, eventually I will get it, but I may end up sawing that hook/stand off. It's useless to me. I have no problem placing a sauce plate in the center of my stove as a utensil rest. The handle itself takes up way too much space in my utensil jar. So is it worth it? I don't know. I use it to skim greens out of a large pot.

Not sturdy

It's no where near as sturdy as my metal potato masher. The first time I used this, I had to get the metal one to do the job. This may be great for softer things as it tends to flex and bend when you use pressure. I like that it won't damage my pans but, I don't recommend this.

Works as promised.

This is my first non-metal masher. I was a bit concerned whether it would be strong enough. Sure it. Worked in my non-stick pot with no problem.

Excellent Utensil For Soups/Stews

This is a must have for those who cook soups/stews often. The generously large paddle shape makes it easier & more efficient to use than regular slotted spoons.

Sturdy but stained with turmeric

This mashes well ... No problem on that account but I used it on a turmeric powder masala potato mix.. it has discolored... Looks ugly now...

Best potato masher

I have non-stick cookware and needed a new potato masher. I love the ergonomic handle. Very easy to handle and a good grip.
