Comfy.

The fit and finish of this helmet is great. I just wish Jackson included a better lens. It's not bad, its just basic and not awesome for TIG. Helmet got dinged 1 star because the cost has gone up significantly over the past 3 years.

This has became my favorite welding hood. I woke 10 hour shifts and it’s durable, comfortable, and clear.

Works, with some adjustments

I've welded before, but it's been several years, so I'm having to get new equipment. Some of the new gear is very cool, so I decided to step up into the new world. Probably should have done some more research before making that step. The first thing I purchased was a plasma cutter/mma/TIG welder, followed by a nice True Sight II. Didn't realize that the Truesight II was an insert, not a helmet. My research showed me that the insert fit in a Jackson helmet. Getting a Jackson helmet was necessary because I'd purchased a Jackson Truesight II insert which I thought was compatible with any helmet. Not true. Anyway, I bought this helmet to accommodate the Truesight II. The good: After a bit of fumbling around, the helmet did accommodate the Truesight II, which is important, and a major consideration. The not so good: When I received the helmet, it tipped up enough to clear my chin, but not enough to see the work on the table. I had to reconfigure the headgear mounts to allow the helmet to move. Don't know if I get the mounts back in correctly, but at least I can raise and lower the helmet to weld and handle my work pieces. Bottom line, not bad, but annoying to have to reconfigure right out of the bos.

Love the hood!

Very comfortable for clocking a lot of hood time, never gets heavy. I do wish it didn't feel so flimsy however I know that would add weight. You take to good with the bad I guess.

Great helmet for the money.

I got sick and tired of my auto-darkening big brand name helmet flashing my eyes while doing low amperage Tig welding. Got this bad boy with some quality gold coated glass and it works great. Much lighter than my auto darkening helmet and the ratcheting mechanism gives good action when you flip the hood down before striking the arc. The only thing I'm changing is that the shade 10 glass is a smidgeon dark for my taste during the sub 100-amp Tig welding (I'm working on 14 ga. stainless steel exhaust tubing) so I just got a shade 9 and an 8 to see what fits best. But the hood is solid!

Decent welding hood

I purchased this hood for welding at home, and for the most part it's exactly what I expected. Unfortunately the plastic snaps for the crown adjustment don't stay put, and I had to tape that band so it wouldn't unsnap when raising or lowering the hood. I also replaced the plastic shade 10 lens with a glass shade 9, but I knew I would do that going in. Overall, I like the hood.

Amazing...

I had no idea that this helmet was charcoal grey metallic. This dude looks awesome. The head strap is what you're really paying for and it is the best you can get. Together I was taken back. What I got and what I payed for has got me scratching my head. The full face glass is so much better than that auto darkening crap I bought 5 years ago. Amazing....

Gold lens is absolutely awesome. Jackson headmount is damn comfy and hood is lightweight. 3 stars given because the ad states there are two in the case. Was only shipped a single hood. Will edit ad to 5 stars if this is corrected.
