Great quality, takes paint well.

I had purchased some $7 wood appliques at Lowes, to go over the windows in my new art studio. I had also purchased this Ekena appplique in the 24" size to go over the door. Once I saw the difference in quality between the $7 appliques and these ones, I understood that you get what you pay for. The cheap ones looked like a ragged mess when they were painted. Like they needed serious sanding, which is really not an easy thing to do. I ordered these in the 12" size for my windows. These Ekena appliques required NO sanding at all and painted beautifully. I don't know if the image shows the roughness of the cheap applique on the bottom, but here's a comparison of the two.

Change a piece of furniture

I sanded lighted, stained and put this on a plain small table on the front (it sits in a hallway) and everyone that saw it before and after couldn't believe the change of it. A good investment. Stained okay.

Amazing carpentry and accents. Applied 2 colors of stain to "age" it and it turned out beautiful.
