Easy to wind up the cord but difficult to unwind

I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 simply for the fact that it is difficult to get the cord out once it is wound up. It absolutely does it job of baby proofing cords in our home! I would still buy again, just good to know that it can be a little difficult to use at times.

Tucks away larger cables nicely for "set and forget" but not great if you need to extend then reroll

This design is pretty easy to use and makes rolling up larger cables (like power cables for lamps) pretty easy. The design is large enough that you probably wouldn't want it sitting on top of your desk, but small enough that you could tuck it behind a dresser or something. I initially purchased this to roll up my headphone cable slack. My headphones have a very thick cable which is long and dangles off the side of my desk. I wanted to be able to roll up the slack when not in use, then extend it as needed. While this design is great for rolling up slack and can FULLY unroll pretty easily, but it's not really made to partially unroll and then roll up again. The cable tends to get tangled up inside and because it's not really made to be disassembled, it can be a real pain trying to untangle things again. That said, the smaller designs with the twistable wheel in the center aren't big enough for larger/longer cables. When I finally decide to rewire my office setup, I'll probably buy a bunch of these to help with cable management. Even using cable ties tends to result in tangled wires when dealing with a lot of cables, so being able to keep the roll self contained and isolated in plastic is attractive especially since the use will be more or less set and forget.

Worked to shorten the cord. Plastic casing is a little flimsy and I have a feeling that if I needed to wind the cord more frequently it would not last too long. But works pretty good if you want to set and forget it.

Flimsy plastic made it too difficult to turn to shorten cord. Good idea, just not practical to use.
