Spent too much on this for the letters and picture to start coming off with 1 wash

Was a gift for my grandson and he loved it. I bought it early for Christmas. He wore it 2 times and was washed once and hung to dry. One washing and the letters and picture are coming off. I am so upset with how much I spent and it could only be washed 1 time
