High quality porch light

We ordered two of these to replace to inexpensive plastic porch lights that the builder installed. I was pleased to find these Seagull products on Amazon since Seagull is an excellent product line. They look great installed. My one nit pick is that for some installations I think the mechanism that is used to attach the base of the fixture to the bracket that attaches to the electrical box Gould be improved. In my case, my porch ceiling is new construction, meaning vinyl slats are used for the ceiling finish. This type of ceiling flexes. The fixture base is attached by two machine screws that come down from the bracket attached to the electrical box. When the heads of the machine screws protrude through two holes, you twist, lock, and tighten. Ok fo some applications. In my case, this results in a less than ideal secure solution. I improvised by filling the space next to the machine screws as it protrudes through the base plate so that the base plate can never move in high wind conditions as we have on the coast here in NC. This could easily be improved by a slight redesign to the mounting system. If you have a wooden ceiling system probably no issue. Not a biggie if you are handy, but simply providing a locking clip or another method would improve the mounting system to match the otherwise high quality metal and glass design. I am otherwise very happy with these fixtures and they look very classy. Although they are rated for 60w incandescent, a much lower wattage LED build provides very adequate illumination, at least in our case.

great looking light

It was easy to install and I like the look. I installed it in my carport and put two 60-watt equivalent daylight LEDs in it, and it lights up the area really well. Overall I'm pleased with my purchase, it was a great upgrade over the original 1960s fixture that was there before! My one tip to anybody purchasing this is, put on gloves before you open the box. This fixture has insulation in the top and it is fiberglass. Found that out the hard way.

Nice looking light

I really like this light fixture, but unfortunately it arrived with a chip inside the glass shade where you would screw in the knob. Therefore, I took one star off. I felt like it was too much of a hassle to return so I kept it.
