Why wire?
I had no desire to tap into truck wiring harness, this product did away with need for that. Easy to set up. Easy to adjust. Functions perfectly. Pay the little extra and avoid pain of tapping into vehicle wiring. You just plug this thing in and it works.

It works great but pricey!
There's really nothing that I dislike about this, it works great and easy to set up. It's pricey and I'm still on the fence if it's worth the price or not. But over all I really like it.

Echo Brake Controller
This is device is awesome. I use it on my 21' F150 XLT to pull my car hauler around; it was easy to set up and didn't have to do program the truck like I would if I bought a conventional one. Very pleased with it.

It works great - reliably, and with no fussing around
I use this controller with a Mercedes GL 350, an iPhone 13 Pro, and a Cargo Express 14 foot trailer. I got this product because I did not want to find space for a big controller interface box in my fairly compact under-dash space - partly because I am 6'7" tall and don't want to loose any leg clearance. The setup is just as simple as the YouTube instructional videos say it is. The controller and the Bluetooth app work very reliably while driving. The app is designed to keep the program running without going to sleep (with or without aux power), and it allows you to run the app in the background while you use (and switch back and forth with) a navigation app like Maps or Google maps. Once it has been set up and a profile initiated, it is possible to use the controller without the Bluetooth app (or if you loose connection or shut the app off) although it will just run on the settings of the last used profile. I really don't mess around with the settings while driving, so this is not an issue, although you do loose the ability to command the brakes ON while driving without applying the vehicle brakes just by using the controller (but the brakes still do come on just fine when you hit the vehicle brakes). (Apparently manual activation of just the trailer brakes alone can be used to correct an oversteer slide by the towing vehicle, but I have not had a chance to try that yet - fortunately.) I have only 2 minor complaints. First, the controller is kind of long - so when it is installed on my vehicle (with a low mounted and downward pointing trailer wiring plug) the plug and the trailer connection wire get close to the ground and I need to use a bungie cord to insure ground clearance. Also it is vulnerable to missteps as with loading the vehicle or from dogs climbing into the back of your vehicle. And second, for some reason the fit between the controller and the trailer wiring plug is not great - it needs a lot of force to connect (even with WD-40), it is hard to get the retainer latch to engage, and it always seems a little insecure - but it does work - no failures in my experience. Maybe thats just a problem with the Cargo Express plug - maybe not. But bottom line - this is a great product, it works great, and it very nicely gets around the awkwardness of a dash or under dash mounted brake controller.

Great little product, BAD strap
Plug and play - kinda. Plugs into a 7 way controller and the trailer plugs into the controller. But the security strap is crap. It’s a stretchy strap with holes with a ball that it’s supposed to go into one of the holes. Damn ball on the strap broke the first use. That is why I have zip ties on it. App was easy to setup and detected the controller. Controller shows when the brake is applied. Settings to change sensitivity. I would have given better review if the strap didn’t break first time. It’s also kinda spendy but it’s nice to be able to move it if we ever change vehicles.

Works perfectly
I’m a licensed GM technician and this was the slickest brake controller I’ve ever installed and used. Less than 5 minutes setup time and instead of using the supplied rubber wrap around strap I used 1 zip tie up tight around the controller and vehicle side 7pin Connector flap and you’re good to go. Would highly recommend this to anyone . Slick little unit for my 2019 Blazer RS. Wish these were available when I was still pulling wrenches

Easy to use
Great unit, no wires to install. Set your screen to stay always on you phone, tap the orange circle to apply manually and it will apply the brakes like any controller, set the gain the same way. Saving multiple trailers is also a handy feature and if your phone is not connected it still works, using the last settings.

(Updated review 2022) no longer recommend this product as it did not even last a year
Product works well and is pretty easy to use. The product like many others have mentioned is pretty long and on my 2015 Audi Q7 that has a 45 degree angled connector it does hang a little low. I have no idea if being at an angle actually has any effect on the accelerometer but I have noticed that even at 10% with my 7x12 enclosed ideal cargo trailer empty weighing about 1500lbs the tires do lock up. Now it could be normal or just because of the 45 degree angle of the setup. The app is easy to use but you do lose communication once in a while after applying the brakes where you think they are still applied but you get used to it. I would recommend the separate emergency break button just in case you need it and the app looses communication as it's a safer setup. They should include a button with the unit for safety. Much less hassle with this unit as there is no wiring to add or a brake controller to install in your way. Easy to swap from one car to the other which costs a lot less than having to buy and install two hardwired units. Connection to the app is a little complicated sometimes from what other users reported so consider looking up how to work around it just in case. I had issues just on the first connection but now it is fine. Unit works off the last profile used in case it is disconnected from your phone which is great. UPDATED REVIEW 2022 Well I bought this product in September 2021 and we are now June 2022 and the controller no longer works. I have used it maybe 20 times and now I am just left with a chunk of plastic that costs a lot for for not even a Year's worth of service. Can't say this is anywhere close to heavy duty or even good for regular use. Now I am left trying to find an alternative and paying again with my hard earned money for a product that will last as long as a regular brake controller. Can't really recommend this product anymore.

Works great and doesn't void your warranty
This brake controller is fantastic and it does not need to void your warranty! No splicing into your brake lines & no wiring up to your battery (Assuming your SUV/Truck has a 12V cigarette lighter thing). I got this, along with the 4-pin to 7-pin adapter and a 12V cigarette-lighter extension cord (6 feet). Wired it all up and everything works really well. In a couple minutes I can disconnect everything from the vehicle and there's no modifications/cuts/wiring left behind. Brilliant! I have a Mitsubishi Outlander which, although they marketed and sold it to me as "tow-ready" up to 3,500 lbs (When you get the trim-level with a V6 and pay for the $3000 "tow-package"). Never having pulled a trailer before, I didn't realize how important it was that the SUV doesn't have a 7-pin connector. It had a 4-pin connector, which apparently does not provide power OR brake signals. I thought "Oh no problem, I'll just get Mitsu dealership to install one for me" - nope! They said it automatically voids the powertrain warranty. So I check the manual and the manual says that although this vehicle can tow up to 3,500 lbs... That has to be done with a brake controller. lolwut? What kinda scam is this? My trailer's only 1,650 lbs but it has electric brakes and needs a 7-pin connection.... Apparently it's becomming industry standard now to put electric brakes and 7-pins on all trailers. So yeah... This thing is brilliant and it keeps you in compliance with your warranty. Absolutely worth the money (When you consider the value of your vehicles warranty.....). 10/10!
