Contour Comfort

What a strange thing to need, a pillow. It all started while driving my car. While driving more than 30 minutes my back begins to ache. I adjust the seat but that doesn't help. So, I wad up my jacket and put it in the small of my back and it helps a little (ever worn a wadded jacket, the wrinkles are unique). So for my next trip I take a small pillow from home. Somehow that pillow barely helps. Next I notice that when I am watching television in my "comfortable chair that it is no longer very comfortable. My back begins to ache, so I got my wadded up jacket. Finally after too long a time my wife mentioned that companies make special cushions for the back. So I searched Amazon and sure enough I found the Carex Cushion. The Carex Contour Back Cushion is exactly what I needed. This cushion really helps. I just fit it into the small of my back and exist in comfort. It works when I drive the car and when I watch television. I recommend Cares Contour Back Cushion - it is good for your back and it saves wrinkles on your jacket.

Not great but okay for price

I tried using this at my desk chair but it didn't work at all (wouldn't stay in place, the angle felt wrong, etc, but that might have more to do with my chair than the pillow). It works better in my car but it's not perfect. Again the angle feels off, sometimes I think it works better upside down because for proper posture your butt should be all the way back on the chair which the pillow doesn't allow for. But, it's MUCH better that my regular car seat and definitely better than the rolled up towel I was using before. ALERT, This pillow is really narrow, I can't imagine it would work for anyone with a wider back than me (I'm 5'5" and 120 lbs)

Works perfectly

Fits to my back perfectly (I am a 5'4" female - about 115 lbs) as well as to my husband who is 6'4" at 225 lbs. Very versatile. It is very comfortable and helps ease back strain while at the computer as well as helping my posture. It lost 1 star for not have any type of strap or a way to add a strap - when you get up it falls off the chair. I do like that the fabric comes off with a simple zipper so it can be washed easily. I would buy Carex cushion again :-)

Firm solid lower back support

My husband has a deep inward sway in his back. He drives daily and has been complaining and complaining. Guess who has to massage his back when he comes back home?! This has been going on for years. When I saw that he had wrapped some thick books inside a foam pad and black-tape wrapped it, and was using that for support, I knew he really needed something. I came looking for a half-log type of support. I did see something like that, but thought this would be better because there's some support upward into the back too. When I received the item, I see that there's a depression in the middle. This was not what I expected. To me, the image looks like a curved half log and I thought the side's shape followed all along the front to the other side. That's not the case. We didn't expect much from this after we saw it, and considered sending it back. But I told him to give it a try for a week. By the end of the week he said his back is feeling better. It's been a few weeks now, and he said although this back cushion isn't perfect for him, and he still feels a bit of discomfort sometimes, that for the most part he feels normal again, with no pain. The cushion is solid and pretty firm, and is not soft foam. It was a great investment, if you ask me.

Didn't do the job for me.

This review is for the Carex Contour Back Cushion. I'm a reasonably slim 5'6" 145 lb male and this cushion feels too small for me. The cushion is concave horizontally and I can barely fit between the protruding sides. Purpose was to put in our car's driver's seat and the cushion feels too thick for that. When I lean back, only my lower back rests against the cushion and my upper back does not touch the seat back. I tried tilting the seat back forward but then the angle of the upper portion of the seat back feels very uncomfortable. I'm going to try cutting the protruding sides of the foam to match the contour of the center portion so that the cushion is flat horizontally. That should correct the squeezed in fit horizontally. The hard part will be to reduce the thickness of the cushion if it still feels too thick after I trim the sides. I'll probably ruin the cushion and have to trash it but I'm going to to modify it. If I fail I'll just forget the $19 loss. I bought this cushion because of the other positive reviews. Maybe they are all from very slim, small people used in other applications. I personally don't recommend this back cushion at all. At least not for using in the driver's seat of a car or for folks my size or larger.

Good back support

This back cushion definitely helps give my back support! I originally bought this when I was having pregnancy back pain. I still use it now for extra back support when sitting. I find it works better on firm chairs then on my soft sofa. But I will use on any chair that I'll be sitting in for a while.

A bit too large for my needs

I wanted this for use in my car, a 2008 Ford Escape. It's a couple inches too wide to fit well on my bucket seat, and maybe a bit too thick too. It may work well on my desk chair though, will give it a try. Seems sturdy & well made, reasonable price. My bad for not checking out measurements Will look for a better fit for the car, which is where I really need that extra lower back support.

cartex contour pillow

I am very satisfied with my pillow couldnt wait for it to get here i had one but the foam was deteorating i used it for about 20 years
