Decent locks with minor design flaws that can be overcome.

I use these locks on my trailer, which means a lot of daily use. Overall, these are good locks, but there are two things I am not crazy about. 1) the way the bolt resists water is a round rubber seal that wraps around the bolt. This little seal always wants to come off when removing the padlock, so you have to be careful. 2) the underside (where the key goes in) has a hard plastic 'shield' to weatherproof that part. In cold weather the plastic seems to constrict, making if really hard to pull of off the bottom of the lock. I feel like I am going to break it when trying to access the lock. Not sure I really need that bottom shield, though, so I might remove it. Otherwise this lock works quite well.

Outdoor locks

Like the rest it still gets water inside the cover which causes locks to rust and stick so you still have to oil it and open to dump water after a rain.

I thought Brinks was a good name brand, I was wrong.

The weatherproofing is pretty good but it is a cheap, junky lock. Straps holding the cover that cover the key hole break immediately in cold weather.

Incredible customer service

I'm giving this product 5 stars because of the customer service provided by the company (Hampton). I have been using these locks outdoors for approximately 2 months; one on my front gate, the other on my shed. They have both been exposed to the same amount of rain, wind, etc. Water still somehow manages to make it into the key area despite the rubberized plastic flap. On Saturday, when I finally got around to raking and dealing with the leaves on my property, the lock on my shed failed. The key is stuck in the tumbler and will not come out no matter how much force is applied or WD-40 is sprayed on it. I contacted the company Saturday afternoon during non-business hours, and received an email back already this morning (Monday) stating that they would send me a replacement lock immediately! Talk about customer service! I'm hopeful that I don't experience a similar issue with any of the other locks. Fingers crossed!

Changed to one star

These barley fit thru my standard gate latch. Have to really push it. They have been on about a month now and they are very hard to unlock. Even though the cover has been on with rain and wind they already have what looks to be some corrosion . I would not buy again. These are so hard to open now. The weather cover has actually caused more problems than helped. I will be getting rid of these.

Definitely NOT waterproof

Here is a pic of a lock (top) that was purchased 6 weeks ago, compared to an unused one (bottom). These locks are not waterproof. The shell that clips over the key hole actually collects water. I found this out after the first rain. It immediately made it almost impossible to close the lock. Do not purchase.

Plastic cover over locking arm is a little thick to fit through a fence hatch

The plastic cover over the lock arm makes it a little difficult to go through a standard fence catch.

Great Lock

Only have had a short time but so far great. The lock has a weight to it and feels like very good quality. Unlocks with no problem.

Will rust if used outdoors.

Despite being marketed as weather resistant mine rusted fairly quickly. These are only good for indoor use.
